NEW YORK — Whether they like him or oppose him, readers want to hear more about Barack Obama.

"The Obama Nation," an anti-Obama book written by Jerome V. Corsi, will debut at No. 1 come Sunday on The New York Times' hardcover nonfiction best-seller list. Corsi was co-author of "Unfit for Command," an influential 2004 best-seller that condemned the Vietnam War record of then Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

Obama, the Democrats' presumptive nominee in 2008, is himself the author of the million-selling "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope."

Interest in him is so strong that even an upcoming policy book, usually the toughest of sells, is catching on. A compilation of speeches and policy statements by Obama and his campaign staff, "Change We Can Believe In," had reached the top 75 on Amazon.com by Monday evening, less than a day after The Associated Press reported the book would come out in September.

"Change We Can Believe In" has an announced first printing of 300,000.

Wasn't Corsi one of the guys involved in the "Franklin Coverup"? Wasn't he the one who helped change Jeff Gannons' name to Johnny Gosch?

Hmmmm-

a cult of personality-

vs

The GOP's idea. a religious cult.

maybe we need some personality, someone that has some morals and scruples for a change, instead of the status quo that has lead us down this very rocky and tortured path!

Karen Hughes got a book published and so did Gennifer Flowers, Tammi Menendez, Faye Resnick etc..etc.. So what?

It does not matter.that some greedy publisher was told by the RNC that a new book smearing the Democratic Party's front-runner would be purchased by the truckload in advance. It is irrelevant to our lives that the Republicans will distribute those books among their own at events, What matters is the fact that Barak Obama has beaten Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh John McCain and the Clintons...and triumphed in an America that has been pummeled by politicians. He will prevail. He will be our greatest President and he will justify our faith in him.

They got nothin'. Mark Levin, a right-wing talk show goon who makes Sean Hannity look like Phil Donohue, had Jerome Corsi on for an hour the other day, discussing his new book. Levin lobbed Corsi softballs for an hour, and gave him all the time he needed to make his case, but by the end, it was clear that he had nothing on Obama.

The thrust of his argument was that Obama is a communist (seriously), because he was tangentially connected to some people who had discussed communist theory back in the 60s when Obama was still in diapers. Even Levin, who was trying to play along as best he could, seemed to be getting irritated that there wasn't more relevant dirt being dug up on Obama.

The rest of the book is all stuff that's already been played out, like Obama's associations with Rev. Wright and the like. Yawn. Nobody cares, and we're all long over the Red Scare, too. Let the wingnuts buy this book in bulk, because it's going to get exactly zero traction with the general public. After listening to Corsi whiff his softballs for an hour, I'm even happier now that we settled on Obama as our nominee.

I don't know ... the name Levin is awfully close to Lenin. He might be a communist himself.

Anyway, McMaverick is also harping on this communist thing. Living in the past.

Kerry was under fire in Viet Nam while Bush was AWOL in Arkansas yet somehow it was Kerry’s military service that was questionable! Amazing.

I would much rather see our money supporting those less fortunate than on unjust wars. Open your eyes and your heart.

Ah, poor guy...you must have woken up from a coma from the 70s. All the free government handouts go to big corporations, no-bid contractors, and rich folks nowadays...a huge waste that Obama has said he will end. It's time to reward employees for their work, not yacht-buying shareholders, as I'm sure you will agree. At the same time, Obama will invest heavily in new sectors, especially in the areas of civic infrastructure and alternative energy, creating millions of new jobs. So, be happy...an Obama presidency will end the insane amount of money flowing into Big Oil (something Exxon John will continue and increase) and invest it to improve all of America. I hope your recovery is a speedy one.

One would hope that all Americans will stand behind our next President and pray he succeeds. Isn't it funny that the chest beating, self annointed "patriots" WANT Obama to fail?

I have always loathed W. But when he took office, I was hoping he would surprise me.
I hoped he would do good for my country. He has done neither.

All of you bad sports, idealogues, neo-cons, racists, flag-wearing haters, warmongers, badly educated hacks? You've had your turn. Your boy ruined our whole way of life and stole the future from our kids.

Why don't you at least hope that Barak will be a great President? We sure do need one in 09.

This book is probably being handled like all other books published by conservatives. Political groups guy up pallets of the books to boost them on the best seller lists. They then try to sell the books, then they give them away, and when they can no longer give them away they have them destroyed. They can't return the unsold books for credit because that would affect the best seller aspect of the book.

Many people think these "best seller" lists are based on the number of people who buy the book. They are not, as evidenced by the fact that this book is on the best seller list before it is even on store shelves. They are based on how many copies the book sellers pre-order. And those numbers are based on how many orders they have received from customers (or groups like the political groups).

In truth, the only real indication if a book is a best-seller or not is that it stays on the best seller list for a long time. Most "best sellers" drop off the list quickly as the sales for the books are not as expected and retailers return the unsold books.

Did the author(s) actually CHECK the list? If they did, they would have seen a † next to the title. At the bottom: "A dagger (†) indicates that some bookstores report receiving bulk orders.

This is a common tactic; but bulk items to prop the sales up and sell them at reduced cost or give them out to supporters.

Gotta love this site for their Fox News "prop up" style of journalism.

No...they buy in bulk to lift their NY Times bestseller status. Then they wind up either remaindering all their leftovers, or giving copies away to Koolaid drinkers. Have another sip.

Who need's it? What is known is that Obama has done nothing which qualifies him to be president of the United States. To elect him is to say that no prior experience is necessary, or even desirable.

Uh huh. And what are the qualifications for president? Last I checked, there were only three qualifications:

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

Also, the prior experience red herring is old and tired ... and was stinking when it was first pulled out.

How about the metric of coherent policy? Take a look at O's policy papers on his website and take a look at Mc's policy papers on his website. Notice a difference ... in weight, in substance, in coherence, in how the words coming out of their mouths mirror -- or deviate -- from those positions?

Now, that's much better trolling! Thanks, naluca. Now then, of course Obama is prepared to be president...an outstanding law education, an expert in the Constitution, a respected professor and civic leader, an effective legislator in both Illinois and the U.S. Senate. He has more "qualifications" than Lincoln or Reagan did, and has already shown that can deal with crises with a cool head and firm hand. Exxon John also has had no executive experience and his 26 years in the Senate has only shown that he will do nothing to solve our country's problems. His temper, lack of respect for women and minorities, and obsessive hawkishness actually disqualify him from being Commander in Chief. We've already had 7 years of oilmen in change; this country can't take 4 years of Exxon John.
