Four Horsies

Earlier today, John McCain gave one of his famous Straight Talk Express Town Hall Extravaganza Applesauce Chat Revival Shows in York, Pennsylvania, and during the Q&A section, said something jarring with regard to his "conservative stance" on issues. Seeking to reassure the questioner that he has only the best intentions for fans of hardcore conservative judicial activism, he told the questioner that there were going to be two-to-three vacancies on the Supreme Court soon. This was, in McCain's words, "According to people who decide these things."

But SCOTUS justices have lifetime appointments! So, who are "people" that "decide these things?" Absent any other explanation, one has to assume that McCain is in close contact with the Grim Reaper himself. It makes me wonder what McCain knows of the plans that Pestilence and Famine have for America between now and the year 2013. Naturally, you can pretty much assume that McCain is following War on Twitter.

Well, McCain may have a point, Alito seems rather rotund, wouldn't be surprised if obesity catches up with him and Obama has to replace him

Would MSM do their job by asking him pointedly to explain and insist on getting an answer? Imagine if it was Obama, how Tom Brokaw, Anderson Cooper, Stephanopoulous (sp?), etc., not to mention the Fox crowd, would descend on him.

The reporting this cycle is a farce.

That just sent a chill down my spine. The Conspiracy Theorist in me is screaming in protest.

Well, he's either talking to GOD, or doesn't understand the US Constituion. Both of which are not good.

... or McCain's Wikipedia-based search of the Constitution could be missing basic information on the Judicial branch.

According to the people that know these things, John is in the same boat as those justices. Old is old , dude. You can't point to someone and infer that they are old and won't make it long but pretend that you're kind of old is any different.

JM's father passed when he was 70yrs old, his grandfather when he was 61 years old. Think about it.

This article would make me laugh really hard, if not for the fact that McCain's level of ignorance makes me want to CRY.

How old is he again? And how much "younger" is that than these SCJustices to whom he is refering?

McCain is going to be 72 here soon. The justices he is talking about are Ruth Bader-Ginsberg, 75, John Paul Stevens, 88, and David Souter, 68. Souter wants to retire, while the other two are old enough that, well, you know.

So he is predicting that Ginsberg might not survive his presidency. Now where does that put him? He is only 3 years younger than her.

He got a 3:00 a.m. call from his Dark Master.

Okay he's officially getting a little disturbing now. And not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but does anybody else find those words a little odd? " The people who decide these things". Almost like he slipped some information - showed a card. No - I'm not suggesting the Justices need to make a will. But Justices could step down, if they're pressured. Or blackmailed. By people with no conscience and no sense of the constitution. I mean, after what we're finding out about the things this administration did to get us into Iraq, would it be all that hard to play games with the Supreme Court?

I'm hot and tired. I'm probably reading too much into it.

I have always thought that the first round of wiretapping and eavesdropping was aimed at politicians, on all sides. It would help to explain why the Dems have been so damn toothless and why even usually reasonable Repubs have been willing to sell their country for a few pieces of silver.

Wow. I just read that to my husband and his eyebrows shot off his face onto his scalp. That is a really interesting - terrifying- thought. One that makes sense. It sure would explain a lot. That would mean they're being blackmailed.

Well. I can't believe we're even talking about this. No, I can't believe they've given us this much reason.

The man loves to talk death, bombing, war, killing, anything violent. He is a puppet, talking about anything Randy Scheunemann or Rick Davis tells him to. He can't articulate any position, because he has no ability to think outside the box.

The office of POTUS is not for intellectual lighweights. If you choose not to believe me, just look at the Current WH and ask yourself:
>ARE YOU BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS AGO?

Everyone should watch McCain's speech today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byn6egvAxkM
and I would love to see a discussion about McCain giving a very one-sided assesment of the situation in Georgia. Is this appropriate for a presidential candidate? The way I see it, Georgia is not all innocent in the conflict. Both sides need to stand down and there needs to be an agreement worked out. Why does McCain put out rhetoric that destroys our chance of becoming an honest broker in the region so that we can advance our interests better.

I watched this this afternoon. Apparently he thinks it makes him look "manly" and presidential when in fact it just makes him look like the war and fear mongering old fool that he is. AND I cringed when he talked about how well he knows Saakashvili, how he's known him a long time and knows him really well and then proceeds..........yet AGAIN............to mangle the guys name.

McSame is correct to a point, that three liberal justices are aging. Now, whether they will oblige him is another story. This is pandering, saying whateveer you think will get the vote of those you stand in front of at the moment.
