MSNBC News:

Sen. Pat Roberts (KS) is now the eighth Republican senator to announce that they will not attend the GOP Convention in St. Paul, Minn., next month.

Roberts spokeswoman told the Topeka Capital Journal today that Roberts will be campaigning that week, finishing up his 105 county statewide tour during the convention week.

Four others who've announced they won't be attending are -- Ted Stevens (AK), Elizabeth Dole (NC), Gordon Smith (OR), and Susan Collins (ME). All are running for re-election and are in close races. (Collins may have the easiest race, but she's never been a close ally of McCain.)

Larry Craig will be in the bathrooms shining everyone's shoes so he can see them better in the stalls. Cheney will be there with his smirk and his shotgun to make sure that people attend. Bush will be there with Condi because his wife is separating from him. Everyone else will be wearing masks so no one will recognize them at the convention.

I said it 3 months ago. McCain is not who the Republican party will nominate at the convention. He is a negative and they need a plus. Maybe Chuck Hagel. They cannot afford a landslide defeat. It will drag the whole slate down.Good riddance to the party of corruption.

Will McCain be speaking to an empty house with only Lieberman and his Lobbyists in the audience.

This should be amusing.

The convention GOP planners will probably fly in a bunch of Limbaugh fans, and give them shirts, pants and shoes to replace their flip-flops, cut off jeans and beer stained t-shirts.
