George Clooney Denies Text-Message Relationship With Obama

CNN:

George Clooney and Scarlett Johansson have more in common than their A-list star status: both have had to shoot down reports they're e-mail buddies of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

Clooney is flatly denying a report in the Los Angeles Times that he "frequently text messages the Illinois senator with whom he's been friends for many years."

"I have never texted or e-mailed Senator Obama. And I'll offer a million dollars to anyone who could prove otherwise," Clooney said in a statement. "I've spent more time with Senator McCain (he did my TV show) then I have with Senator Obama. I would hope that my friend John McCain would join me in condemning this kind of politics."

I read that LA Times piece. It was in the Entertainment section and was written as a gossip column piece. How ridiculous that Huff Po is going with this and that CNN did. For Pete sakes, Clooney endorsed the candidate of his choice and he's doing a fund raiser for him with a bunch of other wealthy Americans who are traveling in Europe this summer. Clooney spends the summers in Italy. This isn't something new. John McCain had his big mouth country western guy a week or so ago. Obama barely has had time to breath in the past many months and he has the best advisers in the world for help. I really doubt that he spends too much time asking actors and actresses what they think he should do about the economy. On the other hand, George Clooney is a friend. He apparently has only had time to talk with him about the fund raiser, but why shouldn't he call any friend he wants to if he finds a minute? This is just silly stuff. People need to get a life of their very own and live it for themselves.
