I'm really enjoying McCain spokesperson Tucker Bounds' response to this Obama ad today:

"In the Senate, Barack Obama has voted in lockstep with President George W. Bush nearly half the time, including the Bush-Cheney Energy bill which gave close to 3 billion dollars in new giveaways to Big Oil - a terrible policy that John McCain opposed. The truth is Barack Obama's plan is a job killing machine that ignores the struggling economy and raises taxes on family savings, social security and small businesses," said Tucker Bounds, a spokesman for McCain.

Wow! So, this is "Straight Talk." Where "lockstep" voting means "half the time." Oh, I'm sorry! "NEARLY" half the time! Since the McCain camp started in with their "Celebrity" ads, I had worried that none of them had been to the movies since Titanic and Wayne's World were in the theaters. But this memo is clear evidence that Bounds, at least, has seen Anchorman.

Brian Fantana: [about Veronica] I'll give this little cookie an hour before we're doing the no-pants dance. Time to musk up.

[opens cologne cabinet]

Ron Burgundy: Wow. Never ceases to amaze me. What cologne you gonna go with? London Gentleman, or wait. No, no, no. Hold on. Blackbeard's Delight.

Brian Fantana: No, she gets a special cologne... It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.

Ron Burgundy: It's quite pungent.

Brian Fantana: Oh yeah.
Ron Burgundy: It's a formidable scent... It stings the nostrils. In a good way.

Brian Fantana: Yep.

Ron Burgundy: Brian, I'm gonna be honest with you, that smells like pure gasoline.

Brian Fantana: They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

[cheesy grin]

Ron Burgundy: That doesn't make sense.

Brian Fantana: Well... Let's go see if we can make this little kitty purr.

Of course, Bounds is losing his bearings. Not too long ago, he was quick to point out how out of lockstep Obama was with the President!

JULY 18, 2008:

This afternoon, McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds hit back, "The truth is National Journal, a non-partisan publication, ranked Barack Obama as the most liberal Senator in the U.S. Senate. John McCain simply said that he didn't know whether or not Barack Obama is a socialist, and noted that national rankings have rated him as more liberal than the only self-proclaimed socialist in the Senate. It's up to Barack Obama to explain his extreme record."

So, where does this leave President Bush? Is it up to Bush to explain 40% of his extreme record? Is he nearly half of the most liberal Senator? Is he almost in lockstep with socialism?

No, silly! He's Brick Tamland.

I'm really enjoying McCain spokesperson Tucker Bounds' response to this Obama ad today: "In the Senate, Barack Obama has voted in lockstep with President George W. Bush nearly half the time, includin...

It's been stated time and time again that Obama is the most liberal Senator in the Senate. How is that possible if he votes with Bush 50% of the time :-)

Obama's critics always try to have it both ways. He's Muslim. He's a disciple of Rev Wright. He's too Black. He's not Black enough. He's foreign. He's an American elitist. He's an unknown quantity. He's too popular.

They're just flailing. And now this silly book that has been completely debunked. They got nuthin.

The anti climax for Team McBush in this presidential campain has just been attained! Guys, please do not rebuke Tucker any further. Tucker has seen danger signal in the overall campaign hence his change of tune.

You know what, the polls have been suppressed all along but McBush team have seen the hand writing on the wall. That is the issue Tucker is struggling with. Guys, never trust those polls. O has a blow-out! Watch from now till election date and you will be shocked with what will be revealed.

I wonder how much of that "almost half" is O'bama saying the right thing, then B'ush, knowing he lost, giving in and doing the right thing?

McCain is just following the Rove dictum of accusing the opposition of what you yourself are actually doing. Even though it doesn't make sense and even though you'll be saying the opposite ten minutes later. everything the GOP says is a lie, so they don't have much incentive to keep track of what they spew.

Look, I can agree with Bush 43.% of the time and be right 88% of the time. Even if Bush is right only 15% of the time, my 43% is at least 88% while on my policies I am right 95% of the time. At least 63% of the population knows that...72% of the time.

Do they keep track of what they are saying about Obama? I've never seen such a bunch of yahoos that are so out of touch with the American people. One week O is a rock star, the next he's Boosh. He can't be both.

Mc'Cain wishes he could be either one :-)

So O b a m a needs to explain his extreme record (that was in lockstep with B u s h "NEARLY half of the time") which also means B u s h needs to explain his extreme record for "NEARLY half of the time."

You stopped one step too soon Jason. Doesn't it stand to reason that since M c C a i n voted in lockstep with B u s h 95% of the time that M c C a i n should also have to explain his extreme record for, shall we say, just under "NEARLY half of the time?"

I was never any good with numbers...apparantly neither is the M c C a i n campaign.

No, no, no... if Obama voted in line with GWB half the time and has to explain that half.
Then that would mean the McCain who votes 95% with Bush would have to explain nearly every vote he cast, and so would GWB.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:02 PM on 08/13/2008

It's not that I don't agree with you about whose voting record is ACTUALLY offensive and/or "extreme" but the point was that McCain's campaign was saying both that Obama needs to explain his extreme voting record AND that Obama voted in lockstep with Bush "nearly half of the time."

So, they are basically admitting that voting with Bush is bad! McCain is throwing Bush under the Bus to save his old a**. What a f*cking joke!

What do you mean what? McCain and his campaign just ceded the point that the Bush administration is Bad and thus voting with Bush is very bad indeed. McCain has totally thrown Bush under the bus to save his own pathetic campaign. What do the Bush conservatives have to say about that?

Given the sloppy nature of his campaign (not to mention all those pictures of Mc'Cain and B'ush hugging), it was probably an accident.

But I do agree with the statement that B'ush Term Three just called himself a failure :-)
