Alan Colmes Goes Off During Edwards Panel, Assails McCain's Infidelities

Andrew Sullivan has a post up on a clip from the August 12th iteration of Hannity and Colmes that seems likely to bring mad creatine to the progressive scene. In it, Sean Hannity merrily leads a panel through a prolonged excoriation of John Edwards, with Amanda Carpenter and some other flaky white dude chitty-chitty banging away. Then, about three minutes in, Alan Colmes suddenly starts breathing fire all over the place, loudly asking how fellow cheater John McCain can be trusted to run the country if infidelities are enough to exclude Edwards from consideration.

What follows is a truly mockworthy session of moral relativity, where it basically becomes clear that John Edwards is allowed to run for president if he waits thirty years, including a five-and-a-half year session of having the Vietnamese to kick him in the nuts.

"Let's see how you act after getting beaten for five years," shouts Hannity, hopefully volunteering himself for a similar experiment in extreme monogamy. Then they take a break and when they come back it's all "TORTURE TORTURE MANSION HAIRCUT!" Breathtaking. Colmes is a complete joke and has no credibility; first he was supporting Edwards, then after he dropped out he is supporting Hillary, now he is supporting Obama. While Obama was in the primaries Colmes found plenty of fault with Obama, now he can't say a single negitive thing about Obama. He brings up totally irelevant things to bash Republicans it is hard to watch, so pathitic. I hope the Hillary fans take over the DNC and give Obama a late term abortion in Denver.

i am not surprised about the relativism. i have long said that jokers like hannity given otherwise identical circumstances, will explain things away by pointing out that their guy wore a green shirt while the other wore a yellow shirt when (whatever) happened, and THAT makes them completely different

I wonder if he was ever successful at out flying a SAM? I think he always stepped out before if got too close as in just clearing the launcher. The A4s were pretty good for their day having the dubious honor of being the first nuclear capable plane, but it was just a mud mover, they would not let him fly anything better (more expensive), like the awesome F4 Phantom.

A4 were not tasked for nuclear. The A3 Skywarrior was designed to carry nuclear that would make it the first navy , but never did, The A5 Vigilante was also tasked with nuclear capability.

A4's were subsonic and attacked many sites including supresson of SAM sites firing against B-52s, as did Wild Weasal F-105 Thunderchiefs which lost a sizable number in that role.

McCain also survived the '67 USS Forrestal carrier fire killing over 100 persons

Hannity mentioned the morality of Edwards cheating on his wife who has cancer, and also focused on the fact that he was running for president at the time. Why didn't Colmes respond by drawing attention to Newt Gingrich, who cheated on (for several years) and then left his first wife struggling with cancer for a younger woman, all while he was in the Congress (and promoting "family values")?

Edwards' theme was not "family values" as Republicans define them, but instead, that economic fairness and justice should underlie the promotion of American values. There's morality in his economic message and deep concern that remains untouched by his selfish, illicit affair.

About time! I keep asking this very question! Hannity If you are saying Mr. Mccain has some kind of Mental Health defect that caused him to committ adultry on his first wife, and useing that as an excuse than I want to have a psychicatric evauation of mccain to see if he's table now at age 71 and all the pain of arthritus,sleep problems an cancer. If he wasn't sound than, it could even be worse now with what he is faceing and his advanced age, and break down of health!

Why should McCain be trusted? If you can't trust Edwards, or anyone who would cheat on his wife?

McCain cheated, then abandoned his wife for a younger woman who had and immense inheritance to enjoy. I don't care where he was, or what he went through. He got his honorable medal and his recognition. That does not "entitle" him to be Commander in Chief.
