Obama Reaches 2 Million Donors

Barack Obama's campaign has been encouraging supporters to "make history" by helping the campaign pass the 2,000,000 donor mark. Today they reached their goal:

Today we achieved something amazing -- 2,000,000 donors owning a piece of this campaign.

In the face of John McCain's low road tactics, it's more important than ever to keep our movement growing and show the power of millions of grassroots supporters coming together to work for change.

Thank you for all you have done to build this movement.

As campaign manager David Plouffe said in an earlier fundraising email, "Two million donors is an incredible number -- a number that was previously unimaginable for presidential campaigns. And it's a number this campaign never dreamed we could reach before the convention."

I haven't donated to Obama,.... yet. I'm waiting to see who it is he picks for his VP before I donate my dollars. If his VP pick is Evan Byah, or another of those white-bread, tasteless non-progressives than Obama still gets my vote - but he doesn't get my money.

For the record - I have donated to a candidate this primary season - just not Obama, Hillary or Edwards. My donation went to an actual progressive and Liberal.

The polls are being manipulated. DailyKos has an analysis of PA where Obama is leading, but where the poll says he is leading among likely voters by 5%, he is actually leading by 10%. This is going to be our biggest challenge because, as you know, in the end a lot of people are going to vote solely on the basis of who they perceive will be the winner. "Everyone loves a winner." The pollsters and the media are going to do all they can to not only make it look like a horse race but to make it a close race in fact. We cannot let this happen. The blogs and bloggers must expose these polls.

Everyone please watch the EXIT POLLS> if there is a big discrepancy, they are stealing it again.

And we need to figure out how to respond.

Wow. Doesn't feel amazing to be apart of a movement?! I've given some money but i also want to volunteer maybe help register people to vote.

I plan on taking some vacation time and staying with relatives in Virginia to help O' with registration in a battleground state (i think the deadline for VA is in September)

Later in life, I want to be able to tell my kids of what it felt like to be apart of a movement that changed America.

This election is our generation’s suffrage and civilrights movement. Make no mistake, it will be in the books as a pivotal moment in American History.

It feels great to know I am contributing to not only make history but to better this nation and the world.

Yep. I don't mind being one of the nameless, faceless people at all. I'm 65 and haven't been enthusiastic about a presidential candidate of either party since Kennedy, and I am much more enthusiastic about Obama knowing just that we can begin to reverse all the damage that has been done to the country and the people (what else is the country but the people?) since the Reagan era. FDR can stop rolling over in his grave, and for all of you young people who know nothing about FDR, you are in for a pleasant education.

Tom95134 - please enlighten us, who are the special interest groups you are speaking of? Myself and my spouse both have donated the limit allowed and happen to be work in the same industry so you could say we qualify as "a special interest group". This is how the repugs are trying to confuse people. When then claim O has received $200,000 from the "oil industry" what they leave out is, that's individual everyday people that happen to work in this industry who have made a donation". There is a difference between "a corporation" donation and people who may work for a corporation making donations.
