Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, 35, will wed this weekend in California, Usmagazine.com has learned exclusively.

The pair are planning a small, intimate ceremony with only a few close friends and family.

Following the California Supreme Court's monumental ruling that same sex couple's have the "right to marry," DeGeneres announced she planned to wed her longtime girlfriend on a taping of her show in May.

My partner, now spouse, and I have been together 12 years and have now been newlyweds since the first day of Summer this year.

I never thought I would experience this extra layer, this additional bond. And even more importantly, growing up I never would have believed that my family (including my surviving grandparents) would turn out so cool, so wonderful, so loving, so proud, and so genuinely happy that my love and I are together, for better and for worse.

I find it absolutely astonishing that certain folks would come to this progressive site and rant about homosexuality being a sin. Well, I for one, couldn't care less what these people have to say. They are ignorant, intolerant bigots, pure and simple.

I suppose they would prefer that I had chosen a different path in life. Instead of partnering with another male (for 35+ years), I should have "gotten married" to a woman. To me, that is a preposterous notion at best. It's called "Larry Craig Syndrome"--no thanks, I didn't want to live my life that way. Why on earth would I want to make a woman's life miserable--along with my own? It makes no sense!

BTW, being "gay" is not a choice, it is how we are born--and, it's no sin. Believe me, I and countless others can attest to this fact--along with other scientific facts which show our brains are different.

I'm heartened to see that those Xtians who believe homosexuality is a humongous sin and thus support the notion that individuals of the same gender should not be allowed to marry are fighting vigorously and with all their might and money to prevent all other sinners from marrying as well.

I watch the Ellen Show during the regular season, and one thing that is evident is the love her audience has for her. If that love permeates her TV viewers, she has done more combating homophobia than those in the closet. Ellen is a very open, very caring person who doesn't take herself too seriously. I wish her and Portia all the happiness they deserve, which, if based upon happiness they give to others, will be bountiful. Thank you Ellen for all the joy you give to others. Your home should be one that is filled with love and joy.
