Oprah is slimming down. The talk show host's eponymous magazine is just one of many US publications putting out thinner editions as the magazine industry struggles to hold on to advertisers and readers.
At first glance, US magazines are holding up better than their UK rivals, many of which are owned by big US media groups such as Time Warner and Hearst. The latest US figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations showed the number of copies sold in the first half of this year was almost unchanged over the same period of 2007 at 350m.
