Hershey Raises Its Candy Prices

Candy maker Hershey Co (HSY.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Friday it was raising U.S. prices by roughly 10 percent and warned that the higher cost of ingredients such as cocoa, corn sweetener, sugar and peanuts would weigh on profits.

The maker of Hershey chocolate bars and other sweets said its 2008 profit would be at the low end of its forecast range and cut sales and earnings growth projections for 2009, sending its shares down more than 4 percent.

Notice how it gets easier every year to sell fake candy and food and dairy "product" to Americans? And how it's getting harder to find anything without all kinds of ... crap ... in it?

Hershey's is just one company among many, and their speciality happens to be little blobs of corn sweetener dyed brown and packed with sugar. Mmmmm, mmmm good!

Hell, most of the stuff in the middle aisles of my neighborhood supermarket didn't exist 50 years ago, thank jeebus, and for some odd reason the streets and cities weren't full of monstrous balloon people and their equally monstrous kids back then, either.

So Hershey's candy is gonna cost more? Good.

Darwin awards for their customers and their kids. Americans aren't fat enough or broke enough yet - and gawd knows, they're not breeding them any smarter - so they've still got plenty of money to spend on crap that's advertised to them. The people who make and sell all this sh*t know that, and it's not like they're gonna stop or anything ...

Hershey's chocolate is second rate. Heavy and waxy. We're all so fat we need to back off on the chocolate anyhow. I'd rather pay three times as much for a better quality chocolate, and eat it only on special occasions. I knew the prices continue to be low, while Hershey was practicing manufacturing in China. Now that the product has improved in some degree, Hershey will instantly become double in price..My,my how expensive Halloween will be for average consumer. Stockholders beware, candy can be left out of the diet, Moms will return to being the greatest candy makers in the whole world.

Wouldn't it be awful if higher priced candy kept consumers from buying piles of it for Halloween and Christmas? I hate to think of all the pudgy, beady-eyed children who would be disappointed if they couldn't stuff their big ADHD mouths full of chocolate every day from Oct 31 until January. Just imagine, indulgent parents suffering the heartbreak of seeing their formerly obese and hyperactive children so downcast that they don't even feel like bouncing off the walls as they waste away until they're nothing more than normal weight.
