Naked Daniel Radcliffe Delays "Harry Potter" Film

Warner Bros. has announced moving its sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," from Nov. 21, 2008, to July 17, 2009. The reason? Officially, there is no reason, except that "a spot opened on the summer schedule."

That's not much of a reason. The real story? Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will be right in the middle of his sensational, highly publicized run on Broadway in the play, "Equus." Radcliffe appears naked in the play, on stage, and has sex in it was well. That's not the image Warner Bros. wants associated with bespectacled Harry, who remains chaste and virginal.

Indeed, posters for Equus are up all over New York, of Radcliffe's naked torso superimposed on a horse's head. This is not the sort of thing that's taught at Hogwarts. For the movie to open on Nov. 21, Radcliffe would have to do publicity entailing answering questions about blinding horses and having sex with them vs. flying around and making potions.

Idiots. WB has always supported Dan's turn in Equus, but of course, that doesn't get hits to your site.

Harry, I was just wondering if you would do me a favor and act again with 'Lucius Malfoy' in the last movie? please-. I know you are not going to be in it with him now as you film the sixth film, but when you start the seventh last movie,... I think you both were good together on film, and Dobby was his slave and you did give Dobe the sock, and you do own his previous servant, so I thought maybe you could just for me, act again with Lucius. I know you can't stand his son- except his father really was respectful with you, all the way back when you got the books signed in the book store in Diagon Alley. You were the cutest little boy in the world, and thank goodness movies capture that forever.
It's late. Good night. Stay happy healthy wealthy and wise.

Love,
AL007

Hot poster. Oddly creepy, slightly disturbing... but still hot. Which makes it more disturbing.

And freakily hot.

It's like a sort-of-sexy carny is doing something both gross and naughty behind the ring toss tent, and he's letting you watch for free.

Get real. It's about the money. They moved the premier so that it will build up their revenue for 2009, which was looking to be a lean year.

What scandal sheet reject writes these headlines for HuffPo? If the AP story had been fully printed, it would have noted Radcliffe in "Equus" had nothing to do with Radcliffe in "Harry Potter, Part 100!" It was a simple matter of economics for the studio which is making mega-bucks for "Dark Knight" this year and has virtually nothing for next year, except the Potter sequel. Aside from that, just how many millions will see Radcliffe in the play? This site is degenerating at a rapid pace...

Maybe you shouldn't click on the "Entertainment" tab.

I'll click on anything that says Radcliffe! Just not happy with the coverage of the issue by HuffPo.

Oh, come on Warner Bros! That's not a strong enough reason to delay such a highly-anticipated film for half a year! A lot of Potter fans will be very disappointed, kids & adults alike. And I doubt if the younger movie-goers will care what other theater or plays Daniel Ratcliffe is/was involved in. People who are into the Harry Potter books, etc. aren't necessarily into other works by the actors or actresses involved. They're into HARRY & Company.

The Harry Potter books and films and the play "Equus" are all fiction. Daniel Radcliffe is a young adult actor. So why all the confusion? Aren't we all grownups here?

Aren't we all grownups here?

While I agree that it is silly of Warner Brothers to change the scheduled release date for this (or any other non-production-related reason), I think the point is precisely that a lot of Harry Potter fans AREN'T grownups.

Daniel is certainly smart enough _not_ to get caught-up in the hell that the "Hannah Montana" and "High School" actors and actors are caught in. He plays Harry Potter but he isn't Harry Potter. What Warner decides to do is whatever Warner decides to do, but an actor or an actress does not have to constrain his personal life by the character of any fictional person that he or she may portray during the course of a successful career.

Warner might be more concerned that, now that the book series has officially ended, demand for the movies is probably on the decline.

This is America--very few of us are grownups here.

Equus is based on the story of a 17 year old who had blinded six horses in a town near London
from wikipedia: "Shaffer was inspired to write Equus when he heard of a crime involving a 17-year-old who had blinded six horses in a small town near London. He set out to construct a fictional account of what might have caused the incident, without knowing any of the details of the crime. The play's action is something of a detective story, involving the attempts of the child psychiatrist, Dr. Martin Dysart, to understand the cause of the boy's actions while wrestling with his own sense of purpose.[2]"

I must say the poster mixes the various attributes of man and horse in a non-tradtional manner.

Of course, it is a play; it would hardly do to have a tongue-tied version of Pan.

Conservatism is a mental illness. Those who practice it are usually worst than those they point the finger at (and I don't mean the middle finger). We are born naked, yet people are so anal-retentive about someone being naked.

We're also born completely helpless and ignorant. Doesn't mean we have to stay that way.

No. Just no. WB did not move the Harry Potter film because of Equus. WB has a very light year next year with Harry Potter and "Watchmen" being the only two likely to bring in a large dollar amount. This year they have "The Dark Knight" bringing in record amounts. They moved Potter back to next year so they wouldn't have it in the same year as "The Dark Knight". That way it doesn't look like the studio took a huge drop in revenue next year. No conspiracy here, just a fairly strait forward financial decision.

I am not a Potter fan anyways so I don't give a fig leaf about his nakedness.

Apparently there's a rule about an actor being able to showing off his use of only one magic wand at a time....
