The pastor who officiated Jenna Bush's wedding in May recently criticized John McCain for his comments at a biker rally earlier this month. ABC has the story.

"Well, I don't know a lot about John McCain's family history, I do know, however, that as recently as last week I think it was, the Senator made a comment in South Dakota regarding his wife entering some Buffalo Chips contest which is this topless deal and if she were to enter she would probably win it and my personal opinion and based on my understanding of the Christian faith, that's not not, N-O-T, not the type of expression that a presidential candidate, or anyone for that matter who is a follower of the Christian faith, ought to make," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell. "I don't know if that is a perfect case in point, but it surely does help to juxtapose the DNA of Senator Obama, if you would, versus the DNA of Senator McCain."

Caldwell, a close personal friend of President Bush, is the senior pastor at Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Caldwell made his comments on a conference call with reporters sponsored by the Matthew 25 Network, a liberal Christian Group. Matthew 25 is planning to air a pro-Obama ad on Saturday during the Rick Warren forum with Obama and McCain. The ad will air on CNN and possibly MSNBC, according to the group's spokesperson.

So African Americans are voting for Obama at a 98% rate? So what? They voted for Kerry in 2004 at a 97% rate. SO? What are you trying to say?

I think you are just being a bigot as usual.

Black people have always had to vote either for the candidate not emphatically opposed to their interests of equal treatment ofr for the lesser of two evils.

They should be voting 100% for Obama! Finally we and the world get to see if there really is equality of opportunity in America.

Questions Warren should ask McCain:

You said you are against torture yet after you said that, you supported legislation that permits torture by the CIA and passing detainees to countries where torture would be permitted. Do you think it would tarnish the name of Jesus if the Christian community votes for you?

You had admitted to adultury on your first wife some years ago. As an avid party animal in your younger years, you knew how to liven up a party with alcohol and women. Recently at the biker festival you offered up your current wife to a biker chic contest that includes topless dancing. Do you believe in promoting promiscuity?

McCain, you propose to cut funding for entitlement programs, and thereby balance the budget yet not cut government spending on the military. You promised us your vision of America is "more wars" which are costly. You propose to also cut taxes on the top 1%. If you do all you promise there will be very little left for entitlement programs like social security and medicare. How do you declonflict your Christian values with your policies that will kick the sick & injured out of Hospitals and abandon them? How will our elderly survive after you cut their social security monthly checks in half?

I missed Sturgis this year but me'n God had a few shots at the Boothill Saloon in Datona during Bike week. He did get a little carried away during the wet Tee shirt contest on the Beach that night.
He kinda likes Blondes but I believe he would want Cindy to have some Botox treatment before taking it all off.

Jesus was a Jewish hippie who knocked back wine in the company of hookers and thieves. He would have never been caught dead in the company of these alleged pastors. As far as anyone can tell, they're just a gang of temple moneychangers and modern-day Pharisees who pretend to be holy men for the wealthy Romans of our time.

Amen, FatJoe. Jesus definitely was a Jewish hippie who hung out with riff raff and went up against the Big Time system of organized religion in his day and got himself, well, crucified. His message is an archetypal spiritual teaching that is as true today as it was then. Spirituality is what counts. Not organized religion and the, well, Chief Priests, Scribes, and Pharisees who have always run it in every age. The will indeed, ALWAYS, crucify true spirituality with their systems of top down control by dogmas and doctrines.

The great contribution of the Abrahamic religions is that the human race now has a 3,000 years old account of dysfunctional organizational psychology. It is a veritable road map of how NOT to do things going forward.

The idea that the people of the Middle East own the franchise in knowing anything about "God" - the Creative Source Power of the Cosmos - is a joke! The sorry, sorry record over the centuries is an embarrassment. Just pathetic.

That seems like a disengenous comment. If you want to go after somebody get some thing REAL to use. Any good Christian pastor would not be Bush's best friend with out saying what he thinks is against the christian thinking or should be. You can bet that this is the way good ole boy georgie talks with his beer drinkin buddies.....this article is a total meaningless waste.

I disagree that this article is meaningless. I think it's good to know that Bush supporters are starting to get the message: McCain's behavior is going to cost us the next election.

Bush supporters are not going to get the message. Bush supporters don't read this stuff, The MSM does not report on bush or McCain..they are not about to expose this story. Is it important that Mccain makes these cracks about his wife. Yes, but the MSM won't repeat them...so this is energy lost. There is so much evidence that "MyFriends" is a phoney in all he espouses...except bomb bomb bomb. Where are the truth tellers?

There was never much love between McCain and the religious right. It's almost funny to watch him grasping for them at the same time he's reaching out to feminists and trying to hang onto the independents that "brung" him. And at the same time, more than anything else, he's just being himself, blurting out whatever idiotic thing pops into his head. This time he offended at least two-thirds of his coalition of people who aren't that crazy about him but don't want Obama to win.

I think Christians have nothing in their theology that would disallow participating in
the "Buffalo Chips contest which is this topless deal " but would not disqualify them from
any other beauty contest.

As a Christian, I know there is a good deal of scripture in the Holy Bible that basically says, Have more respect for God and your fellow human. Can you seriously tell me that a wet T-shirt contest doesn't stir up sexual passion? Sure it does. Jesus spoke about the dangers of this kind of activity in Matthew 5:28 and his message was clear. With that in mind, for conservative Christian supporters of John McCain to turn a blind eye to this kind of sanctioned campaigning is hypocrasy! McCain isn't running for the presidency of a fraternity but for an important, dignified office!

McCain is an embarrassment. He's a complete jerk. It is very common for short men to verbally abuse their wives. You just don't expect to see it in a candidate for president.

MSM could care less what McCain says. Its Obama this, Obama that, Obama has this problem or that problem. Is it any wonder this race is as close as it is. McCain actually has nothing going for him. His policy is drill, drill, drill, smear, smear, smear, bomb, bomb, bomb. If he's elected there might be mass flight to Canada. Oops...Corsi believes Bush will unite Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

I think the MSM is afraid of Mac. Given how he can blow them off and embarass them in public, or not get invited to one of his barbeques or throw temper tantrums during interviews - this is one unstable guy. Remember this episode with the NY Times?

I wonder if the Rev. Rick Warren will ask McCain about the topless Miss Buffalo Chips contest during his compassion forum this weekend. Probably not!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:30 PM on 08/15/2008

I'm sure he won't, but he should. He should also ask him about why he called his wife a c*nt and trollop! Let's see how many seconds he can stammer 'uh... ahhh..... uh.... I certainly don't want to talk about that'

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:36 PM on 08/15/2008

Is that all you got? How about Rev. Warren asking Obama about his view on Black Theology Liberation? To me, that is more relevant!

Idiot, Black liberation theology is mainly from the old testament. Obviously you are not familiar with the old testament. Secondly there' s nothing wrong with telling people to take responsiblity for themselves, their actions, have pride in their blackness(race/ethnicity), liberating themselves from different forms of bondage ie racism, social, economic, political, religious etc. Maybe you should educate yourself about it instead of assuming it preaches racism.
Many of the things Black Liberation Theology teaches is the same thing even Jesus preached about. Read your Bible, you an ti Ch ri st.

Black Liberation Theology.

In a nutshell it says, let my people go. Free them from ALL of the chains that bind them: spiritual, physical, financial, educational, judicial, extra-judicial, et cetera.

What, pray tell, is YOUR view?

Remember Christianity is not about religion(don't do that, do that) its about relationship. Obama will tell you that, if you are a believer , you are saved. Obama is a Christian, a protestant. Very simple. Non-believers get real hung up on Christians, not necessary.

I would hope that at this point a great many Christians are realizing they were lied to and used by the Ne0C0ns.

I know some people are still hiding behind their Christian faith to mask some other deeper issues regarding 0bama - but I believe in their heart, they know.

War is the REAL obscenety. All true Christians should condemn the GENOCIDAL MURDER of Iraqis. But you never hear any of these preachers speak out against the war. Which country would JESUS BOMB?

Good point, Ed. Jesus healed the sick and disabled, fed the starving, gave hope to the desperate, and refused to attack even when Jesus was justified. Because Jesus loves us!

There were other alternatives to remove Saddam Hussein and handle inspections of WMDs, short of all-out invasion. The consequences of our invasion of Iraq pay heavy negatives for doing anything like that with a real WMD threat: Iran. In addition, America has lost it's credibility, fractured the stability of the Middle East region, and stretched our military to the breaking point. In hind sight, if we really "VALUE LIFE" -- the montra used against abortion by religious conservative Republicans -- then how can we allow the Iraqis to suffer a war and occupation which was never in the Iraqis' best interest? (Even the CIA noted, before the 2003 invasion, that at best we'd get a civil war in Iraq.) Or was it always a case of "the fix is in" to invade oil-rich Iraq and settle a family grudge? If it isn't so, then how come Blackwell has a green light, even after what we all know?
