President Bush warned Russia on Saturday against trying to pry loose two separatist regions in Georgia and said Moscow must end military operations in the West-leaning democracy that once was part of the Soviet empire.

Bush told reporters at his Texas ranch that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's signing of a cease-fire plan with Georgia was "a hopeful step." But Russia's vision of Georgia without the provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia was a nonstarter, the president said.

...

At the request of Saakshvili, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden, D-Del., scheduled a trip to Georgia this weekend for meetings with government officials as well as citizens forced to flee their homes.

Actually there is no need to fly anybody to Georgia, as Russia clearly has no intention to take it over (otherwise it would already have done so). The point the Russia has clearly made is that if Georgia resorts to the military means in their attempt to settle it's geo-political score against Abhazia and S.Osetia, that Russia is not going to tolerate that and will intervene. On top of it, people who initiate large scale invasions involving massive destruction and loss of civilian lives are usually considered to be war criminals, but i guess since mr. Sakashvili is friendly with US then it doesn't count. (Neither for public nor policy makers)

By the way, did i just hear "pry loose separatist regions"? Kosovo anybody?

After calling McCain out on national television and making John McCain look like a fool, of course the Georgian president wants to see Joe Biden. He knows who can unite these overseas countries, and that would be Obama. How anyone can observe John McCain and think that his having been a war hero qualifies him to run this country are delusional. All of his stories are about war; all of his dreams are about winning wars; is this what America is to become should he be elected. If so, we may as well prepare to be attacked on a daily basis for being the "bullies" that Bush and McCain have turned America into. If Bush or McCain were to fly overseas to certain areas right now, we would not be viewing American flags waving, as they did for Obama; we would see American flags burning and hear chants of Anti-American sentiment. I know people know this is a fact. I do not understand their logic on this most crucial issue.

There was a great piece in NewsWeek by Fareed Zakaria, that talked about how even Bush has seen the error of his ways. He changed course on a lot of bad policy. Unfortunately, John McCain is intent on picking up where Bush left off - 4 years ago.

You bet! The President of Georgia PAID Campaign Mangers of John McCain Spring 2008 -- as LOBBYISTS. He was very upset as things escalated - and spoke publicly and directly to John McCain (as if conducts our Foreign Policy already?) via satellite. John McCain conducted a Press Conference in front of American flags -- and said "we are all Bosnians." The President of Georgia told McCain, defiantly, to DO SOMETHING -- as if he was promised.

Our Russian "expert" Secretary of State and President -- were QUIIET and at the OLYMPICS -- while McCain was speaking publicly, w/the help of our corporate-owned for-profit MSM, who couldn't wait to drag our the "Cold War" talking points. NeoCons at CNN were jumping! Senators Lieberman, etc. were "dispatched" -- for what??? Since when does the great State of Connecticut carry on our INTERNATIONAL FOREIGN AFFAIRS?

What is going on?

Do Americans CARE?

Is the moment when New Yorkers will be told to PUT TAPE ON OUR WINDOWS -- again?

Republicans, please wake up and help us throw this bunch out of Washington.

Red States, haven't we -- who didn't vote for Bush/Cheney - suffered enough?

Saakshvili: Hi Senator. How do you going? Long time, never see. Is things doing good for you?
Biden: Fine Dmitry. How are things over there?
Saakshvili: How you think? Things a mighty mess. You should see this place.
Biden: Great, I'll be right there.

Washington, DC — Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) is scheduled to visit the Republic of Georgia this weekend at the request of President Saakashvili.

Senator Biden is traveling to Georgie for the Democratic Leadership -- and Senator Obama, no doubt.

We cannot leave our Foreign Policy in the hands of NeoCons -- who want WWIII. Joe Lieberman rushed over there -- for what? At who's request/behest? Is there ANY war Joe doesn't want or get his paws in?

I stand corrected. It was not our prez who sent or is sending Biden to Georgia. The request for Biden to go to Georgia came from the president of Georgia.

The headline of this story is somewhat deceptive...I first thought it was BUSH that had asked him to go, but I should have known better. Bush could care less, he doesn't need to worry about crises in world affairs when there's brush to clear.

Saakashvili needs U.S. help, he calls a Democrat. I don't blame him, I'd do the same thing.

McCain's team -- Lieberman, etc. -- have been a dissappointment -- and whatever they had planned w/McCain LOBBYISTS and The White House, has fallen through. So, he wisely summoned Joe Biden -- representing the Democratic establishment and probably, Senator Obama.

The President of Georgie is in trouble -- and, has asked for a Democrat, while he is surrounded by NeoCon Senators and McCain/Bush loyalists such as our Russian "expert" Secretary of State.

Incredible.

Do we have a PRESS any longer?

There is another theory that Putin led the push throught he tunnel to put a stop to dubya starting n with Iran before the election.

Biden will do nothing to put an end to this Sarkozy has surrendered to Putin allowing Russian "peacekeeping" forces to remain n Georgia. Russia will heat Europe this winter.

Putin will control Iran the Baku pipeline as well as the Turkmenistan pipeline as well as Libyan oil and he is pushing hard in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

What is Biden going to do? get some more botox injections or maybe a magnetic sand treatment while in Georgia?
