CNN Teams Up With Daughtry For "League Of First Time Voters"

Variety's William Tripplet reports that CNN has teamed up with hit band Daughtry to promote its new "League of First Time Voters," which premieres Monday night. Daughtry has remade Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time" to honor young voters' first time voting:

Maybe it's your first time. Maybe it isn't.

Either way, CNN is counting on a specially recorded cover of Foreigner's 1977 hit "Feels Like the First Time" to attract new or returning voters who want to find out what's going on in the presidential campaign.

The tune, cut by the Grammy-nommed band Daughtry, will be the theme song for an occasional segment called "League of First Time Voters." It bows tonight during the cabler's "Campbell Brown: Election Center."

"It's about engaging people to the process who may be voting for the first time," said Andy Mitchell, veep of interactive marketing for CNN Worldwide. "But it's also about people who may be re-engaging with the process after a long while for whatever reason, and that's why we chose the tune -- it may not be their first time voting, but it might feel like it."

Wow - great job Daughtry - sounds just as good as Foreigner.

I agree i only watch KO and Rachel and that is it - i get so disgusted with any other news show these days - that is just unbelievable how low they have all sunk.

They're hooking up w/ some Heartland conservative who owes his 'success' to the FOX cabal...not surprised. I too have completely stopped watching CNN. Up until recently, I'd still tune in once in a while but no more. I'm down to KO and Rachel Maddow when she's on over at MSNBC. We can no longer trust these corporations to tell us the truth, the corporations that own the MSM have to much at stake to allow people to know what's really going on in the world. Its us vs them now....stop pretending that they're not the enemy.

CNN was getting closer to Faux news on my list and I think this has completed the deal for me. I watched Cooper when he actually covered the war with Michael Ware but have less and less tried to watch as he has sold out more and more to entertainment TV and not real news. Dobbs is like O'Reily bu he goes off in many different directions and gets wilder about "aliens" from Mexico and has too many affiliations with scarey people to have a chance for sanity. Wolf tries at times but he has not got a good balance and tends to go in wacky directions too.
