CNN Teams Up With Daughtry For "League Of First Time Voters"

Variety's William Tripplet reports that CNN has teamed up with hit band Daughtry to promote its new "League of First Time Voters," which premieres Monday night. Daughtry has remade Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time" to honor young voters' first time voting:

Maybe it's your first time. Maybe it isn't.

Either way, CNN is counting on a specially recorded cover of Foreigner's 1977 hit "Feels Like the First Time" to attract new or returning voters who want to find out what's going on in the presidential campaign.

The tune, cut by the Grammy-nommed band Daughtry, will be the theme song for an occasional segment called "League of First Time Voters." It bows tonight during the cabler's "Campbell Brown: Election Center."

"It's about engaging people to the process who may be voting for the first time," said Andy Mitchell, veep of interactive marketing for CNN Worldwide. "But it's also about people who may be re-engaging with the process after a long while for whatever reason, and that's why we chose the tune -- it may not be their first time voting, but it might feel like it."
