The Drudge Report is reporting Monday afternoon that the New York Times is ready to report that Barack Obama has selected a running mate:

Obama has set an elaborate roll-out to announce his decision that will begin with an early morning e-mail to supporters, perhaps as early as Tuesday, [Jeff] Zeleny and Adam Nagourney have been told.

A top source close to Caroline Kennedy tells DRUDGE -- the pick is more likely to come early Wednesday morning.

But Mark Halperin over at Time Magazine's The Page reports that Drudge has it all wrong:

Internetist claims NY Times plans to break Obama veep story in this news cycle -- but he is wrong.

Would someone please punch Drudge in the face.

BIden Bayh Kaine - don't help anywhere, any of them! And I like Joe Biden, but why do Democrats need to have their own grumpy old man, further he may have buckets of foreign policy experience, but he was wrong about Iraq and Obama shouldn't have to explain away someone else's bad vote. My veep fantasy is that Caroline Kennedy will find herself, like Barack Obama 's "cousin" Dick Cheney before her. She is the antidote to everything Republicans and media will and have been throwing at him. She's a living reminder of what was best in America and like the Senator, she is a Constitutional scholar and it may take two of them to reinsert The Constitution into the three broken branches of government. I have a very hard time imagining "white working class" voters anywhere in America turning down the chance to vote a Kennedy into office.

I had the same thought but I think it is a longshot. We will soon find out tough.

..."(Biden) was wrong about Iraq...."

How so?

We invaded under a false pretext.

We're stuck.

We don't know what "victory" means.

Violence is down because American cash is buying militia restraint.

Biden - and everyone with a brain - was right. Iraq is America's Afghanistan
and we've yet to see how much it's going to impact us.

Addendum - I really hope the NYT does a story about the HuffPo reporting that Drudge reported that NYT is ready to break the story... it would be like a tautology of wasted news space.

Amen.Furthermore, I don't read HuffPo to learn about anything Drudge is posting. To quote a movie phrase...he is a "boil on the butt of humanity."

Just in: ABrindell, a person who posted a comment of HuffPo, said, and we quote: "I really hope the NYT does a story about the HuffPo reporting that Drudge reported that NYT is ready to break the story... it would be like a tautology of wasted news space."

So wait... let me get this straight... this is a story on the Huffington Post, about a story on the Drudge Report, that the NYT is ready to break a story? A story on the Drudge Report that the NYT is about to release a story seems absurd enough - news about news? But a story about a story about a story? This just might be the most asinine thing I've seen all year.

Drudge: noun, one who surrenders intellectual or personal integrity for an assured reward (as a regular income),grub; slave;slog;peon. The definition is fittingly appropriate for this slug.

I wonder if Drudge signed up for a personal email or text message to be notified when the decision was made? Imagine how much bigger Obama's email list would have gotten by people signing up for it.

Its either BIden or Nunn those are the two names he mention on Saddle Brook forum. If he has already picked his VP that means they are on his mind. I'm guessing it was a tough choice between these two but he probably chose Biden in the end.

A tough choice? Biden may have his problems, but Nunn could not be a worse choice. If it did come down to a choice between these two, one wonders what the thought process was about what sort of VP candidate would be helpful in getting Obama elected.

I can't believe HuffPo would post anything to do with Drudge the Neocon Opportunist, the man that was handfed information by Gingrich during Clinton's impeachment. Saying that he was a blogger, was simply a front for the neocons to disseminate information out in the public without it blowing back on them.

It is shocking to see this Drudge report on Huffpo. Why promote this idiot?

Probably because he single handedly drives more of the news cycle than anyother person, party or media outlet.

Drudge is on a computer screen in every single newspaper and television station in the country.

INCLUDING ARRIANA's.

(that's why he is on her links section; you know because he IS THE NEWS CYCLE).

Doesn't mean you have to like it; maybe you hate him; that's fine but stop pretending you don't get it.

Senator 0bama would do well to announce his choice in the middle of the week, and not on the weekend, so as not to antagonize all those lard-arse couch potatoes (i.e, the average American) who wouldn't want the grand finale of their precious Olympics Of Tyranny interrupted at the end.

Now I'm hearing it will be maybe fri or sat because of the Olympics. His campaign is saying no to wed.

Some scoop, Drudge. It wouldn't be the first time a nominee was announced before the convention. It seems to becoming the norm in this hypermedia age.

Why does this guy always make me think of the zittiest, loneliest, creepiest kid on the high school newspaper staff?

Could Drudge get rid of that hat? Just go bald gracefully, like everyone else, for goodness' sake. He is perpetuating ridiculousness, not to mention he is annoying. For some reason I think of a little schoolboy who wants to know the right answer every time but didn't want to take the time to actually study. Just one of those pests we knew in school who looked over our shoulder to peek at our test for the answers. But then, that's just my take on it . . .
