Drudge Report: NYT Ready To Report That Obama Has Selected A Runningmate

The Drudge Report is reporting Monday afternoon that the New York Times is ready to report that Barack Obama has selected a running mate:

Obama has set an elaborate roll-out to announce his decision that will begin with an early morning e-mail to supporters, perhaps as early as Tuesday, [Jeff] Zeleny and Adam Nagourney have been told.

A top source close to Caroline Kennedy tells DRUDGE -- the pick is more likely to come early Wednesday morning.

But Mark Halperin over at Time Magazine's The Page reports that Drudge has it all wrong:

Does not matter to me when he names the VP, as long as it is not Biden. He would be making the same mistake Kerry did. Picking a VP to satisfy the left. Kerry should have picked Bayh would could have helped in Ohio. Obama should pick Bayh because he could help in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and PA. Bayh has similar foreign policy experience, but is not prone to foot in mouth, and can still allow Obama to champion the Change mantle. Can't call for change when your VP is a Washington Insider for more years then John McCain.
