Five American Batters Hit By Chinese Pitchers In Brutal Olympics Game (VIDEO)

The Chicago Tribune reports on a brutal baseball game between the US and China that featured five American batters getting hit by Chinese pitches:

Our relations with China were nearly broken at the plate.

A near-brawl with our Olympic hosts in a baseball game won 9-1 by the U.S. team Monday night resulted in an unexpected outbreak of tension for the international pastime.

Three members of China's team were ejected from the game.

Two collisions at home plate led to an injury to a Chinese catcher and a confrontation with another.

An American player was then hit in the head with a pitch. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion.

"That was the last straw," said U.S. center fielder Nate Schierholtz, another of the principals.

What, is this about that nutty Omaha S&L/satanic abuse conspriacy theory? I grew up in Lincoln, NE, my dad knew some of the principles, at least he knew some of the main bakers of the claims were charlatans, like John DeCamp.

PBS has a show about the Chinese team. They're managed and coached by American ex - major leaguers. Obviously, they've learned all too well how to play like the pros.

I don't hate America, after all they were my neighbors for many, many years. But as is the way when you live next to someone for so long, you start to get to know them.

I have to say that the Americans reaction to the Chinese during these Olympic games has been hilarious. It's almost like there saying bad sportsmanship doesn't exist in the US; cheating is unheard of here! Steroids, NBA, MLB brawls, fixed boxing matches and on and on.

I really don't think it's the Chinese athletes conduct that is so offensive but rather the emergence and spectacle of what China really is - a major threat to Americas dominance in the world.

Millions of Americans have gotten fat and lazy while 100's of millions of chinese have moved up to the middle class. American parents have worked furiously to keep evolution out of the classroom, while Chinese children are learning languages, sciences, sports and economics - day and night(into the early evening anyways)

American politicians have spent years eroding civil liberties, terrorizing its population with the threat of terrorists while Chinese politicians have been clinging to power by giving its population more and more civil liberties.

Get on the treadmill America- and take a book with you. You have some serious catching up to do!

Maybe we should start a league here where the players pad up and play rough all the time. Though I don't like the idea of people being hit in the head with baseballs. But tackling the runners instead of tagging them would be good.

And the opposing team could be allowed one or two players in the field when their team is at bat so they can try to keep the ball out of the hands of their enemy, I mean, opposing team.
