Obama Vp Pick

New York Times:

Senator Barack Obama has all but finalized his choice for a running mate and set an elaborate roll-out plan for his decision, beginning with an early morning alert to supporters, perhaps as soon as Wednesday, followed by a trip to swing states by the new Democratic ticket, aides said.

Mr. Obama's deliberations remain remarkably closely held. Aides said perhaps a half-dozen advisers were involved in the final discussions in an effort to enforce a command that Mr. Obama issued to staff: that his decision not leak out until supporters are notified.

Mr. Obama had not notified his choice -- or any of those not selected -- of his decision as of late Monday, advisers said. Going into the final days, Mr. Obama was said to be focused mainly on three candidates: Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia and Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware.

Where's Bill these days? My guess is that he is writing his speech for the convention, which, if he is to save his legacy as the party's most brilliant orator rather than cede that to Obama, had better be good.

It doesn't matter how flattering or complimentary he is to Ob-a-ma not many will believe him.
The damage is done both to O (minimal, to some perhaps a positive) and his legacy.

I'm not sure how flattery we ought to expect. A little, yes, but I wonder if there will not be something else in this speech: the innuendo. Especially if it's true that the Clintons really want Obama to lose. It would have to subtle, of course.

I heard that Bill is shopping for a comfortable pair of shoes for his looooong walk into the convention hall.

This is his first crucial decision. It will be interesting if he flubs with Sibelius or Kaine, or gets a triple with Bayh, or a home run with Nunn.

Nunn is the consummate Dixiecrat who is really a Republican in everything but name.

Nunn is not a Dixiecrat.

Nunn would be dam good, but I doubt he will be the pick.

I believe that Obama will make his announcement even earlier than Wednesday. A day (and a time on that day) when we least expect it.

One thing for sure, whomever he picks, Democrats will immediately form the circular firing squad.

When are Democrats going to get it? The national media are not your "friends". The egos in this Party are freaking amazing. Every day, I'm reading one or another idiot Democrat who was contacted by the press, and is busy kneecapping the nominee, to stroke their own egos.

They remind me of HRC's campaign staff. They never knew when to shut up either.

If the Dems have a circular firing squad, they can perfect it by copying the Republicans this week with their bs about the possibility of Tom Ridge as a possible VP choice.

Tom Ridge .... Mc is said to be "comfortable" with him ... that's all telling IMO!!! Ridge is lappy, he is so very willing to serve, he would make Mc "comfortable" he is duck tape and flashing lights creative ... and, thinks Mc's jokes are hilarious!

MSM thinks O "needs" a particular VP pick, while Mc merely announces his pick on his BD ... as usual, they leave out very large points ... one is that Mc's "needs" are far more dire .... at 72.

I read a post yesterday that said that Carville is dropping hints that McDesperate's choice will be a surprise, that it will someone 'outside' the box'.

The poster inferred from Carville's remarks that it's going to be Hillary.

It won't be, of course, but it's fun imagining how that would go down. Think of it. Pumas, already threatening to vote republican, flocking in droves to his side, crying, "You see, you Obamamites? HE APPPRECIATES Hillary, YOU never did! HE knows what it takes to win an election. No, not a village, a Clinton!!! Ha, ha, ha, THIS should REALLY take the wind out of Obama's sails!!!"

McCain isn't going to pick a pro-choice VP.

His surrogates are floating the idea to pretend there's a "big tent" in the Republican Party. There isn't.

Whatever happened to Christine Whitman, anyway? Did you guys throw her out of the Party? Is she in the witness protection program or something?

Thing is even with all that, O handles his business!!! How about the drop of a "Lady de Rothchild" ... just the "Lady" thing surely contorted the hell out of some!! That ain't no "lady" !!

Anyway, this election cycle has been, so far, a better hardback as I've read ... damn near drew every emotion known, even blood!

Going to see what's happening on the ground today ... O's campaign office!!!

If he picks ANYONE but HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON, he'll lose, and lose badly.... Are his advisors on DRUGS????? Bayh is as bland as cream of wheat and cheese, Biden is as pompous as an old windbag, and Kaine is unknown at a time when a known commodity is needed... I pray Obama selects wisely instead of these three bland mice...

Oh No - Not Her!

I am still horrorfied at the way Obama has allowed the Clintons to just about take over the convention. They are going to suck out all the air and enthusiasm from the candidate and turn it on to themselves.

The worst thing Obama can do is to choose her as his running mate.

It will become her campaign rather than his.

Please Sen. Obama. Don't do it !!!

Well, Hillary isn't exactly known for holding her audiences spellbound, she's not that good a speaker. She herself is bland.

Oh, well, you can't tell the Either He Picks Hillary Or He's Doomed camp anything, that's obvious.

If HRC had kicked Bill to the curb years ago, I'd think more kindly of her. But she hung onto him, and now he's dragging her down. Her big claim is all her "experience"..what, being Bill's wife? She's got to do better than that.

He will no doubt pick Tim Kaine, but he is going to regret not picking Hillary. Pride Goeth Before A Fall.

This is not an endorsement for Hillary Clinton. It's just that too late Obama is going to realize he could have had a vast female population out there on his side, who thought it was there turn for once, who won't exactly get it up for a male VP........any male VP.

Too bad, they could have helped Obama counter the "insecure white male" vote. Now it will be a nail biter to the finish, and probably President John Sidney "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" McCain.

What makes you think this is about pride? If hubris were his tragic flaw, I doubt he would have agreed to let Bill and Hillary play such big parts at the convention. I hear that even Chelsea will get a little time under the lights.

It does not matter who Obama names as his VP. The Democrat Convention has turned into an ANTI-OBAMA event, a clear sign that he does not have the full support from his own base. Thanks to the Clintons and all the protesting that will be going on from angry people from within his own Party..

Of these three I prefer Biden, not that he doesn't have his own set of problems. He's a 24/7 gaffe machine. But I much rather him over republican light or someone who is anti-choice. It's also kind of smart because a Biden pick let's McSame know Biden can drop the hammer on all those little temper tantrums McSame threw in the Senate. And Biden would have no qualms whatsoever bringing up each and every incident in exquisite detail....

Talk about a bogus non-story. Various reports: Obama will announce a VP candidate Tuesday or Wednesday, Thursay or Friday, Saturday or Sunday, certaainly by Monday. But the Olympics continue, and the closing ceremonies are Sunday night, touch competition.

Why not just wait and announce on Monday or Tuesday, timed to compete with the Bill and Hillary Show.
