Obama Vp Pick

New York Times:

Senator Barack Obama has all but finalized his choice for a running mate and set an elaborate roll-out plan for his decision, beginning with an early morning alert to supporters, perhaps as soon as Wednesday, followed by a trip to swing states by the new Democratic ticket, aides said.

Mr. Obama's deliberations remain remarkably closely held. Aides said perhaps a half-dozen advisers were involved in the final discussions in an effort to enforce a command that Mr. Obama issued to staff: that his decision not leak out until supporters are notified.

Mr. Obama had not notified his choice -- or any of those not selected -- of his decision as of late Monday, advisers said. Going into the final days, Mr. Obama was said to be focused mainly on three candidates: Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia and Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware.

I've been on the Sebelius bandwagon from the very beginning, so anyone else is just the person he chose in my opinion. Still, it boggles the mind how notoriously lacking in political savvy the American electorate can be. We don't choose on the basis of fact, but appears to be on the basis of who is better at making the decision for us. Who'd we like to have a beer with? Who's hotter? Who's younger? Who's older? (For better or worse.) Who's this? who's that? Granted, there are those of us who actually take the time to research the candidate and the issues, but judging by some of the comments here and in other forums, I have to wonder if we really care about Obama picking the right person or the one we feel good about. No election should be a popularity contest and no choice should be based solely on who makes us feel good. Pick the best damned person period. This is why I've embraced the maxim that says, "There's doing right and there's being right." Are we more concerned with doing right or being right? In many cases we can do both at the same time, but the jury is still out on this one.

Sorry but the "feminists" supporting Hlllary have built a glass ceiling above Sebelius' head, they don't want any woman to be VP if it isn't Hlllary.

Biden or Clark, I think.

So much for feminists looking out for women's issues huh? You'll forgive me if I don't buy into this line of thinking. It's the same type of thinking that keeps some people thinking that Hillary is the only viable candidate for V.P., which she clearly is not.

Doing and being right? You shouldn't be looking at politicians for any of that.

I'm in complete agreement *gypsy*. However, I made the comment in regards to us voters, not the politicians. What I meant to say is that people often want to be right instead of voting in their best interest. For example, in spite of evidence to the contrary, there are people who still believe Obama is a Muslim. (Like that's a bad thing.) So no matter what, they won't vote for him based solely on that criteria. Those people just want to be right and their vote reflects this.

Let's see... Boring as opposed to "a liar"... "a narcissist"... Be careful about what poison you spew. Your girl has very few redeeming qualities if any at all. Let us also not forget that Kathleen Sebelius actually "did something" (or should I say, "some things") during her political career.

www.obamanelson.com resolves to www.barackobama.com, but in all honesty redirecting a url isn't a difficult thing to do.

I hope it isn't Bill Nelson ... he's DLC, like Bayh, and he is a Senator in a state with a Republican Governor ... not sure if that means the governor can appoint the replacement Senator or not, but that would have to be a concern.

Sometimes these reports are just too fantastic. This is a media game. They have dubbed Biden, Bayh, and Kaine the 3 top seeds with out any real thought behind it.

This makes them drive ratings for the moment B-Rock does choose. The media knows it will be a curve ball. A curve ball they designed.

There are much better choices and ones who didn't vote for the war.

Absolutely. I really hope O thought outside the box, because another senator on the ticket, Biden especially, doesn't look like the kind of change O believes in.

I agree. They've been wrong on so many things before, like the countless times they've predicted the day the VP pick would be announced.
I don't trust them or their picks.

Sorry to rain on your A parade, but I've napped and woken up to this new
photo, and thought for one moment, America was ok, because this man was
already in charge. Strange things happen when you want them to enough.
Question I ask myself now is, should I wait until November results to write
here again or should I just go with my gut feeling and stay?

I''m lost and I don't know why, can someone take my hand ,please?

I for one, I am hearing it a lot. I like Clark and he was my choice in 04. But it just seems that he may be coming with some baggage when he ran for the President that the Obama people may find it hard to work with.

That said, I still think this is not the time to play it safe and be cautious or pander to certain voter or geographical segments. In a certain sense, the VP choice can become ones heir-apparent. The future of the Democrats may be riding on this choice. I think Clark is well-qualified to be commander-in-chief. I think he is perfectly capable of defending his record.

That's what I have been saying. It's not his record that will keep him off the ticket, it's his mouth. He is kind of a loose cannon. He won't fit the mold of B-Rock's message. But he will be a great allied force for B-Rock.

CNN took Warren's "So you got my questions. Good" out of their transcript.

Just like Couric changing answers for him at CBS.

It really is like totalitarianism with these people (CNN, CBS, ABC, FOX) lying to the public. Whatever happened to an honest and independent press?

But then again I am pulling for Richardson. I don't mind being let down though so long as it isn't Hilldog or Bayh.

Bayh is one of the favoreds, but he is a 2 year governor, and for a 3 1/2 year senator, Obama needs experience.

Biden has a lot of experience and made a trip to Georgia, just recently, so he might be able to cover the foreign policy experience Obama lacks, and he has been a good attack dog on the news already.

Honestly, I don't think Obama needs any senator, besides maybe Hillary. Obama would benefit more from a popular experienced governor. After all, a governor proceeds over 1/50th of the country, has to be there to sign things into law or veto them (unlike senators who can just skip days whenever they want, like all of the ones running and in rumors).

Both Obama and McCain need a Governor who can help put a state into play for their party, Congress has a horrible approval rating right now, and their records sometimes speak better than their crafty rhetoric.

I love Sebelius as a choice but thanks to bullheaded stupid feminists that supported Hilldog, they will feel outrages with the Queen of C*nts isn't the VP pick. It's anti-feminism from the feminists. Amazing isn't it.

Richardson is my pick though. He has been sitting quietly on the sidelines and has a lot to offer. And it will be a nice little eff you to the C-linton's with out pissing off the feminists.

Biden.
He's a strong dedicated liberal democrat.......and
I believe he is the Capital hill politician that is "the Most P*ssed Off " by the last four years.
He takes it personally + Barack totally can handle him.
Remember O.bama's reaction to the "Articulate, and Clean" comment, he brushed it off, he knew what he was saying.
One final plus, Biden like Mc.Cain, has nothing to lose!
Turn him loose, in the name of Saving the United Sates of America!

Wesley Clark would be an absolutely terrible selection and thankfully, he's not in the discussion. He's not a politician, and he would get ripped in any debates.

My personal favorite has been, from day 1, Joe Biden. He offers everything that Barack may be lacking, including experience (he may be an insider, but he's far from being mainstream), foreign affairs, and an attack dog mentality. He's a smart guy, a great politician, and actually a pretty good person.
