I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Gore

Al Gore will reportedly speak at the final night of the Democratic convention -- a coveted spot, but one that should put to rest the rumors (however faint) that the former vice president might reprise his role for Barack Obama.

The story appeared on CNN.

"We are learning," the network's anchor said, "that former vice president Al Gore has accepted a speaking role at the Democratic National Convention. It will happen on the final night of the convention. Of course, he'll be appearing on the same stage as Barack Obama receiving the party's presidential nomination officially. Not sure what he'll say or exactly what time he will give it. But we know and we have been reporting there's going to be a lot of people there. They're expecting the crowd to be something like 70,000 or so. Former Vice President Al Gore has accepted a speaking role at the Democratic National Convention."

Gore has long stated that he does not want to return to the White House whether as vice president or in another administration role. But his statements have not been enough to tamp down the (unlikely) speculation that he might be tapped as Obama's number two. The selection of a Thursday evening speaking spot should, however, put the final nail in that coffin. Vice presidential candidates traditionally address the convention on Wednesday night.

Undoubtedly, having Gore take the stage the same evening as Obama pushes a sharp message, reminding voters about the fundamental dynamic of this election: how different things could have been had George Bush not taken the White House in 2000.

Al Gore will reportedly speak at the final night of the Democratic convention -- a coveted spot, but one that should put to rest the rumors (however faint) that the former vice president might reprise...

I remember Republicans having ex-president Reagan scheduled to speak at midnight on day 2 or 3 at the G HW Bush convention (even with early-Alzheimers he was the best speaker of the entire convention--absolutely put it away, though relatively few heard him).

When did Clinton have Carter speak?

I'll bet it wasn't the most prestigious or respectful slot (unlike the plum time slot Obama is giving Bill)

Topic for Gore's speech:

"How the global warming hoax was a complete failure and what else we can do to bring socialism to the world".

He is also going to change the name of "carbon credits" to "poverty credits" to try and scam more people into handing over their money to him.

You sound like a bitter and exceptionally misinformed conservative with a lot of money invested in Exxon.

And what will it take to convince you that global climate change is real? Obviously not mountains and mountains of hard science, because we already have that. Obviously not virtual consensus among all the scientists of the world except those bought and paid for by Big Oil, because we already have that. Perhaps when the last of the polar ice caps melts into the sea, you will begin to clue in. I'll bet you still steadfastly cling to the belief that the earth is flat, too.

Global Warming is a Fact! Along with global cooling! Back in the 70's (yes I am old enough to remember) global cooling was the disaster du jour that was about to happen! Global warming caused by humans is a scheme, theory and boondoggle from the left to enable the largest transfer of wealth in history. Wake up the world is run on hydrocarbons and you can make fairy tale wishes of ten years and no more oil. But this is the real world. And if anyone is living on a flat earth it is you fanatical environmentalist. You want a real cause go after the worst polluters in the world (China if you haven’t figured it out yet). We as a nation have become 50% more efficient in our use of energy (simple Google search will show). That is pretty good by any standard but we can do better. How about the cleanest, Greenest, most efficient, and safest energy in the known universe Nuclear energy. Why are we behind the world (including the French which frost may bottom) in nuclear energy because of uniformed fanatical environmentalism.

Where are these mountains of hard science? You are either unable or unwilling to discriminate crucial differences in concepts. If global climate change is real, so what? If polar bears no longer roam ice flows: How does that change human life? Nature doesn't offer any species, including man, a gurantee of survival. Have you ever asked yourself why you should sacrifice the time of your life for someone who will be alive a hundred years from now? It's funny how the left is always pointing to religion as being foolish but they latched on to one of religion's primary rules, self-sacrifice. There is no difference between a preacher demanding sacrifice to something unknowable and a progressive believing man is responsible for global warming. They both demand man sacrifice the time of his life and offer no real proof beyond faith for the sacrifice.
Listening to a man like Al Gore about anything requires something beyond faith, it requires suspension of reason. Ask yourself one question: What do I know and how do I know it?

Climate change IS real. The climate has been changing since the beginning of time. Man Made climate change is a hoax and is just a way for politicans and enviro-wackos to redistribute wealth and impose world socialism.

You can't have a consensus in science. Science is never up to a vote.

So, we have Hillary and her roll call on Wednesday. Then loose cannon, Bill, on Thursday. Then will they please, please go away? (especially Bill?)

I'm concerned about the Clintons at the convention, but hopefully the Obama supporters will keep things running smoothly on Wed.

And Biden (if it's Biden) will be able to follow and stomp down Bill if needed.

Winding up with Gore is a great idea. He's still a terrible speaker--but he's a national icon (and a reminder that it's not "Clinton 90s" any more!)
Then Obama will speak and hopefully bring down the house/rock the arena/cliche of your choice.

Match that for heart and drama, GOP!

BO and AG, on stage together. That will be great.

I can't think of two people on earth who have taken more garbage from the Clintons than these two. By the time they hit the stage, the catharsis should have occurred, and the future can begin. I can not wait.

Al Gore didn't lose that election. The Supreme Court took it away. Have you been visiting another solar system for the past 8 years?

shrub and his buds stole the election in 2000. Gore could have fought it further but opted not to in order to avoid ripping the country apart. He puts country ahead of self, something that would be refreshing after eight loooooooooooong, ruinous years of shrub. It would be great if Obama would name him VP, give him 100% freedom on energy policy, and Gore could enact his 10-year visionary plan to move us off of fossil fuel and onto wind and solar. THAT would be the change I can and do believe in!

Bring on da noise, bring on da funk!

I can't wait for the Convention so hopefully it will be the last time we hear anything about Hillary and Bill! Its so sickening! Why in the hell don't they get a life!! I just hope all of these so called PUMAs nuts wake up in time and stop allowing themselves to be used by the Clintons! We will have a great convention and I'm glad that Al Gore will be there to remind people of the fact that Bush stole both elections and because of that we are screwded!! And somebody please tell me where was the outrage then when everyone set on their butts and watched this happen!! I live in Ohio and know that he stole Ohio the last time with the help of our so called Sec. Of State!! We've lost so many jobs and home foreclosure is rampant and I just hope Ohioians wake up and vote to help Sen.Obama take our State back! OBAMA'08

Hi All,

Couldn't imagine a better closer for Obama, than Al . . . This is the stuff dreams are made out of!

Then, when I reflect . . .

Just when we exit the "wackadoodle" phase of the campaign and get ready for a campaign run . . . oops, we have have to stop and pay tribute to a man who somehow gave away an election that was all his to win . . . not a good omen.

. . . and I have to ask . . . what will he say that he hasn't already said? . . . if the speech is new and controversial, then Obama will be crowded out at the end . . . if it is just the same old environmental speech . . . then it will be a snoozer.

. . . just how do these things work out ?

With amazement

Gore actually won the election in 2000.

So not to worry, it holds that the rest of your post is probably wrong too.

I heard B#sh is opening up the G0P convention. Just think- we can have 4 to 8 more years of the same B.S. we've already had. Tell you the truth, I'd rather be put to sleep by G0re, than to be f#cked again by the G0P.

"somehow gave away" the election? The "somehow" to which you refer was that the election was STOLEN, pure and simple. That is usually the fault of the stealer, not the stealee. So put the blame on BUSH and his cronies, where it belongs!

So did Reagan, and he was kept waiting till near midnight on Monday or Tuesday during G HW Bush's second convention. They would have been happy if they could have skipped having him on altogether, but he was excellent (if you don't count his philosophy, of course.).

I think it's safe to say that life in America would be a little bit better if Al Gore wasn't cheated out of his victory in 2000.

It's fitting that he is speaking on the last night. If he was Prez, he would have passed the torch onto Obama anyway.
