Chicago Sun-Times:

When Alexi Giannoulias was an undergraduate at the University of Chicago in the mid-1990s, one of the guys he would play pick-up basketball games with in Hyde Park was Barack Obama, who taught at the U. of C. law school.

Now Giannoulias is the Illinois state treasurer and Obama is the presumptive Democratic nominee. Obama has been "like a mentor to me," Giannoulias told me. He will be one of the parade of Chicagoans who will speak at the Democratic convention Monday night, when Obama's family and friends tell the story of Obama's life.

Michelle Obama is Monday's prime time speaker, and she will be introduced by her brother, Craig Robinson, who grew up with her on Chicago's South Side.

I'm glad to see the spot light will be on Barack Obama the NOMINEE and not the Clintons. Dont look like they'll be hijacking this convention.

I don't see why not as long as the POWS who dispute JMAC's prison account and Ms. Vicki can lend a few words of wisdom.

Only if the families of all those Iraqis that were killed over forge connection gets to tell their story about the retughicans at the convention topped off with why George Bush and DIck Cheney should be tried for WAR CRIMES. Then you have the torture that happened ad Abu ghraib and Guanatanamo bay. We can have a truth convention but RETHUGS get to go first.

War Crime that makes issues of patriotism pale in comparison. FOrging of documents to justify going to war sounds like Treason to me.

I hope McC's first wife speaks at the convention. I've heard she may be cutting a deal with some Democratic operatives. Oooops. I take that back!

Looking forward to hearing all of the speeches.

One of my favorites: Tammy Duckworth

She would be a great VP choice for Senator Obama but

having two from the same state on the ticket would likely be very risky.

Then again, her patriotism, service, intelligence, etc... WHY NOT?
