At the "Civil Forum" at Saddleback Church in Orange County, California this weekend, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) repeated a favorite line of his about Osama bin Laden:

If I have to follow him to the gates of hell, I will get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. . . . No one should be allowed to take thousands of American, innocent American lives. Of course evil must be defeated . . . we are facing the transcendent challenge of the 21st century-radical Islamic extremists.

What a gift to the recruiting efforts of Al Qaeda! - to have an American presidential candidate declare himself a follower of Osama bin Laden. According to McCain, Bin Laden is so powerful that he poses a "transcendent" challenge to John McCain's United States.

Obama should question McCain judgement in an ad too. His so call judgement put us in Iraq and 10 Billions in the hole while our economy is suffering. If that is the type of judgement McCain is offering then we don't want it. He should blast McCain on his so call damn judgement.

The whole "war on terror" was indeed seriously mishandled.

War, when it should have been an international police effort supplemented by special operations teams and tactical bombing in the more difficult cases?

We are not now and never were hunting an army - al-Qaeda is merely a loosely-knit pack of mad dogs - and the latter is precisely the limit of the elevation our counter-propaganda should have given them.

Instead, we were unfortunate enough to have Bush, Cheney, & PNAC, LLP in power, and they had well-documented pre-existing plans to occupy the Middle East...which al-Qaeda conveniently provided cover for with their heinous act on 9/11.

In turn, this Administration did al-Qaeda the favor of invading Iraq and thereby provided them with a convenient, easily accessible, and target-rich theater of operations.

Worse, this Administration enabled war profiteering under the guise of "privatization", thus turning war into just another "business" - providing al-Qaeda with yet more propaganda material.

The Republicans are indeed the best thing that could ever have happened to al-Qaeda.
