Cindy McCain Mother Teresa Story Fabricated

Gilding the lily is nothing new to politics. From the 1840s when William Henry Harrison claimed to have been born in a log cabin (it was actually a Virginia plantation) to Ronald Reagan's reminiscing about flying over Germany in World War II (he did, but only in a movie), politicians have taken perfectly good stories and embellished them.

The latest embellishments come from the McCain camp. Cindy McCain has repeatedly referred to herself as an "only child." This week came news that she actually has two half sisters, although apparently she had very little contact with them.

The McCain campaign had also put out the story that Mother Teresa "convinced" Cindy to bring home two orphans from Bangladesh in 1991.

Mrs. McCain, it turns out, never met Mother Teresa. (Once contacted by the Monitor, the campaign revised the story on its website.)

They're wealthy. They have beautiful families. They have beautiful homes. They have positions of influence. They're known around the world. They're blessed by God. Aren't their lives exciting, meaningful and rewarding enough to not have to embellish them?

I sure hope Obama stays on track, and does not resort to (any more) exaggerations, and does not resort to misleading and untrue negative ads.

Everything in the "endearing" stories that are spun by John and Cindy ends up being not true. Think of all the stuff we have heard, including family recipes, being an only child, Mother Teresa adoptions, crosses in the dirt, cone of silence, football teams, ABBA songs not yet written...­....there is so many more untruths they have spun that I can't even begin to remember them all. I have said all along the John McCain wouldn't recognize the truth if it slapped him......i­t seems as if Cindy shares his abilities to tell wild and fantastic tales. So much for above board and honesty.
