Though McCain is widely perceived to to drawn first blood by attacking Obama's character, the official said that the difference between Obama's mocking McCain for his wealth and his shaky answer on the number of homes he owns was that McCain's charge "reflects an existential reality," where Obama's charges "attack Cindy. She owns the homes. I thought he said the wives were off-limits."

McCain may not know how many homes Cindy Gotrocks owns, but at least he's managed to hang
onto the ole' meal ticket for a quarter-century. Of course, there are a couple-hundred million reasons to hang onto that one. I wonder how many houses the 'ditched' first wife owns?

Does anyone remember when McCain was suggesting that you couldn't hire an American for $50 a hour to pick lettuce? http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/22/14023/1070/795/572803 He doesn't realize how much the majority of people actually are paid.

Nice try. But the point is two fold--one, he's got a LOT of houses (and are they all in Cindy's name only? Not community property? McCain's name's not on the deeds? I doubt that very much).

More to the point, is that McCAIN doesn't KNOW how many homes he has!!!

That's nothing about Cindy at all. HE'S the one who was UNABLE TO ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION!!!

If he can't see that the ISSUE of "How many homes?" is so far removed from the life of average Americans (many who are trying to avoid foreclosure and job loss), then he's not FIT to be president.

But...nice try at misdirection.

I think it is worse if McCain's property is separated from Cindy's (after a 30 year marriage?) - it seems as if they keep the controversial investments, payments, purchases etc in her name so he can appear "clean" and she won't release her financial papers.

I guess McCain isn't as old fashion as some would think - he doesn't mind being a kept man, and having his wife control all the assets.

More rationalizing but the McCain camp. What I'm wondering is did John McCain break Cindy's arm? How many people wear a cast for a sprained wrist or stay overnight in the hospital?

It was a forty something John McCain who hit on the pretty young cheerleader barely into her twenties at the Navy Ball. There he was all turned out in his uniform with a wife at home damaged from an accident. There she was too young to know better, pretty and rich. It's John McCain who built a life and a career based on her wealth and the deception that he is the one true POW hero out of the 600 men who suffered that fate but have chosen not to use it for profit. It's John McCain who can't recall how many houses he has. Cindy's parents were smart to keep it all in her name and to insist on a rock solid prenuptial agreement. They must have found out that John had chased a whole lot of ladies before Cindy. It is yet another cheap trick to try to deflect John's legitimate calling to task onto Cindy, again. Have you never noticed that nothing is EVER John McCain's own personal screw up or responsibility. He's the one that tried to make this elitist thing into a campaign issue. John's whole life is hundreds of times more elitist with his $100 million dollar wife than Obama is who just got his first nice family home after he wrote a couple of good books. Obama earned his. McCain robbed the cradle for his and in the process abandoned his first wife. POW or not, that is conduct unbecoming an officer.

Give me a break... McCain doesn't know where he is at any given time. Of course he isn't going to know how many homes his wife owns. But I bet he knew how many homes she owned before he married her!!!
