The Politico reports:
At about 3 pm, a staffer at John McCain's Denver campaign office received a "threatening" letter that contained white powder, according to the campaign.
The campaign immediately evacuated the office and contacted the authorities. They are waiting for further information, said a staffer.

This is just another phony ploy by the McCain camp with all of the fingerprints of the Karl Rove protege. And just so coincicdently in Denver no less.

Flashback to a young Karl Rove. RIght before an election that his candidate was behind Rove claims to find a bug in his office. He hits the press with outrage and his candidate gets a bump because those evil nasty liberal have tried to spy on him! Next, the FBI determines the battery for bug that Karl claimed to have found showed that it was first turned on moments before it was given to the FBI and could not possibly have been used to bug his office. Next the republican Governor gets involved and stops the investigation. It is clear to everyone involved that Rove was lieing about it but the investigation is stopped because they fear it will have an impact on the election, so once again, Rove goes free.
I can't say this time it is Rove, but I can say he has done this same thing before. I would suspect this from him closer to the election though as swift boating is always his favorite move.
Well it might not be Rove, but Schmidt, Rove's protege is certainly using the Rove Playbook.
Guess it was a little easier to Big Man on Campus while Obama was on vacation. Now he's back, refreshed and ready to counter anything McCain puts out there. Not as easy to stay on those talking points when you're not running unopposed, huh Big Mac?
So, McCain's people are thinking, desperate times, call for desperate measures. The old kitchen sink strategy in well underway, I hope it brings the same results as when Clinton used it.

If the threat is bogus then this is really fun. Obama has suckered McCain into shooting off all his ammo BEFORE the end of the August lull. The general public isn't paying much attention and all this will be "hoo hum, we've heard that before" during the general election.
Note: If the threat itself was real, not campaign generated, then I am appalled.
What macain and his fellow goons don't understand is that most of the public is busy trying to figure out how to put food on their table.

Exactly! That was my first thought.
I saw a clip on the news last night from the NH office (I'm in MA) and the guy said he became suspicious about the letter because it was sent from Denver. So he called the FBI. WTF? This whole thing is fake and I'm glad it's not getting much media coverage.
Why would a letter from Denver, where they apparently have another campaign office, be suspicious enough to call the FBI? They are a bunch of desperate losers, I can't wait until the authorities find out the McCain people did this.
