The DNC is keeping the heat on John McCain over his admission that he didn't know how many houses he owns. The committee is hosting a news conference Friday morning outside the Senator's Arlington condo, shooting out a media advisory that reads: "McCain lives at 'most enviable address in Virginia,' while middle-class families face economic downturn."

Meanwhile, aides to the DNC walked Washington D.C. to create a man-on-the-street video, asking interviewees if they can remember how many houses they own.

Clearly Democrats, including the Obama campaign, smell blood and are going to milk the McCain gaffe for all its worth. It's hard to see, however, how this goes on longer than today. On Saturday, Obama is set to trot out his vice presidential nominee and then on Monday the Democratic convention begins.

McCain, meanwhile, now stands to lose more than a week's worth of news cycles. It will be telling to see just how this dynamic is reflected in the post-convention polls.

Here's an possible reason he doesn't WANT to remember. Perhaps all the homes 10 or 11 (as posted now) - are ALL in Cindy's name. His name may NOT be on any title! Time for some investigative reporter to roll up his sleeves and find the "truth". Not having his name on this important deed/title will provide just how "married" and "trusting" the McCains are.

Also, John McCain can't remember to pay his property tax on his LaJolla Home then he can't manage his own personal affairs, he is incapable of manageing this country, period.

How many people do you know worth 100 million that forget to pay their property tax. I know people that don't have enough money to pay, but they don't forget it is due.

If he hires someone else to do it, then he hires incompitant people. Cause you know the county is sending the bill.

The man is not qualified to be the POTUS.

Oh how short sighted you are. We have only just begun to unwrap this gift. He couldn't remember to pay his property taxes. The man has no mind. As a manager, if he hired someone to pay his tax bill, then he didn't hire someone who was compitant. We've had plenty of that with the bushie apptments. Remember Brownie. This one single gaffe covers the issue of his memory/mind and that he lives like the elitist he claims O is. Now the temper needs to come in and be connected to Cindy's constant injuries and we have an angry old cout, that beats his wife, in all of his homes around the country, but he can't remember where the last place he beat her was.

If McCain were to put his pro gun folks together with his housing problem, he could come up with a great bumper sticker:

House Hunters for McCain

"Who Does McCain Remind you of? A New Game for Hard Times"

Making a big deal about this house gaffe makes the D N C look desperate.

And it opens the door to O's RE deal. Doing an RE deal with a guy arrested for fraud four months later doesn't look very good.

Everyone knows Mc has a rich wife and that the faimly trust invests in RE.

This is silly and petty, only the pundits think it's a story.

McCain has spent months painting Obama as elitist who is out of touch with average people, so yes this is relevant. If he has so many homes he can't keep track then he demonstrates all of his attacks to be deeply hypocritical.

As far as the Rezko thing. There has never been any evidence that there was anything illegal about Obama's business with Rezko. If Rezko was convicted of illegal activity that Obama was not involved in how does that reflect poorly on Obama? Now Obama is supposed to know all of the business dealings of an acqaintance but McCain isn't expected to know what properties his wife is buying and selling?

In conclusion please try and think of the rudest most insulting statement you can and assume that I have said it to you.

Good day.

Yeah, right. If Obama had said he didn't know how many houses he owned his bid for the presidency would be effectively over. The DNC and the Obama camp should drive this stake right through the GOP.

Why? Sen. McCain has repeatedly said that the economy is "fundametally good." His own (former) economic advisor said that Americans are a "nation of whiners" when it comes to this economy. After these statements, ones that would've destroyed a democrat, the McCain camp has the off-the-chart hypocrisy of calling Obama elitist and arrogant. McCain is out of touch with folks who work for a living and who are trying to keep the lights out - if the Dems they don't talk about that they should concede the election.

If the fools on the right think this flap is a deal breaker and will sway a vote to Oblahma you are loonier than I thought. Don't care how many houses he has, still voting for him!

Do you care that McCain admitted he doesn't know much about the ecconomy?
Do you care that McCain's ecconomic advisor was greatle esponsible for the legislation that cleared the way for the housing crisis?
Do you care that McCain's ecconomic policy is a carbon copy of the same Bush nonsense that caused our current ecconomic mess?

I woke up this morning and wondered, Just how many houses do I own? Could it be three or six or maybe even ten?

I checked with my staff and they told me it was seven. How could I have forgotten seven like seven come eleven.

I feel that tomorrow I will be wondering, How many cars do I own since I do not even know the price of a gallon of gas?

Oh the rich life of a POW, did I mention that I am a POW though I really do not like to talk about it much, just as an answer for everything.

I am John McBush and I approve this message because I am so out of touch with the middle class. The middle class, you know the ones who are worth under $5,000,000.00. Yea, THAT middle class.

This all makes for good theatre and the point is valid, but it shouldn't be allowed to become the central focus much past today. The 0 campaign should be starting the parties early with their VP pick and their policy victory with the Iraq withdrawal timeline, not another McCone gaffe.

You can't be serious. This 'gaffe' (revelation is more like it) will last til election day. It's the gift that will keep on giving (thank's John!!).

The houses issue gets the message that McCain is a country club Republican, who represents the interests of the haves and have mores, to low information voters much more effectively than rationally constructed intellectual arguments ever will. This must be milked for all it is worth.

It's great to see that the Obama campaign has got its groove back!

obama admitted that he made a mistake. Kinda like Edwards saying he wasn’t having an affair. There wasn’t much to that story either .
"I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it," Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times.

obama is no average joe!
In June 2005, Obama and Rezko purchased adjoining parcels in Kenwood. The state's junior senator paid $1.65 million for a Georgian revival mansion,
