I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The McCain camp put out another installment in its anti-Obama "Celeb" ad series today. This time they're hammering Obama on taxes. The spot starts with a line about Obama's financial prosperity, a sort of counter-intuitive move considering the recent fracas over McCain's wealth and multiple homes.

"Celebrities don't have to worry about family budgets, but we sure do," the announcer says. "We're paying more for food and gas, making it harder to save for college, retirement."

The ad is not particularly original, suggesting that either this is not a serious buy (no word where it will air, though it will likely be shuffled into a previous purchase) or that the McCain camp still thinks it can bleed Obama on the celebrity meme.

UPDATE: A Democratic source emails this tidbit, undermining the idea that Obama (a celeb) doesn't have to worry about family budgets but "we" (presumably including McCain) do. "McCain spends MORE a year on house STAFF ($273,000), than the average person's home is worth ($218,000)."

This is according to personal financial disclosure forms.

The ad is pure nonsense. We now know who the elistist is with 7 homes and so many cars he can't remember which one he used yesterday. His homes are palatial and his lifestyle is emperor like. There's no relating to poor working people out there trying to make ends meet with their low level jobs at burger joints.

I wonder if the ekderly lady appering in this ad can pay for her medications or how much SS she receives?

Do people such as her really understand what they are participating in?

Nope. I would peg her about the same age as my dear mother whose thought process about politics is about as shallow as a puddle. My mom giggles when I bring up politics and she doesn't like to talk about it much because it doesn't interest her. That said, she will probably be voting McCain unless I can persuade her otherwise.

Ask her if she remembers how many houses she owns.

Ask her if she would take 9 cars to go get a cup of coffee.

Ask her if she spends a quarter of a million dollars on maids.

When she asks YOU why you're asking.... well, it's nothing... just that McOutOfTouch... well, see, Mom... here's the thing... if YOU can remember how many houses YOU have, then why can't HE? If you wouldn't take 9 cars to go get a cup of coffee, then why would HE. ...

I'm not sure I'd worry too much about the lady, she's probably the wifeor widow of a rich old retired conservative ex-corporate executive that contributes big bucks to the Rethugs. Maybe not, but aging is an equal opportunity burden for the rich and poor alike. The rich just get taken care of better. They probably paid her a small stipend for appearing in the ad; my guess - $50k.

I think this is pretty lame in view of the fiasco of McCain not knowing how many houses he has...
It just reminds people of the fact that McCain is one rich dude. Doesn't matter if he didn't work for the money, he is still one of the riches guys in the Senate.
I have been hoping that someone would hammer home just how wealthy and out of touch with the economic realities of most people John McCain is...
I just never thought it would come out of his own mouth.
Sorry John, former POW status or claiming their in your wifes name aint gonna cut it and you know it.
Did anyone know that McCain's mother Roberta was an oil Heiress?

I didn't know she was an oil heiress, but I pretty much figured out early on that McCain never grew up having to struggle for anything. Not with daddy being an admiral, trust me.

I am a New Orleanian and I have seen first hand where the Republican Party leads to. I would rather vote for the new guy, thank you very much.

What's this "we" sh*t Grandpa?

What was the last DECADE you had to worry about a family budget? 80's? 70's?

I bet that private jet that you and Cindy own burns more fuel on one cross-country hop than the average American family's car uses in 6 months! And you probably write it off as a business expense.

Yet another litany of republican lies!

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth,

raised with priveledge,

married to the Mob;

the only time McCain suffered was during his incarceration,

which he may have had a hand in if he flew hung-over.

Lame ad. Every line in it has already been aired, disproved and discarded. Obama's tax plan suggests not taxing any senior citizen making less than $50,000. I wonder how many people know McCain also draws social security and veterans disability while he lives off Cindy's income.

Please don't forget the base salary of $169,300 a year for being a senator. And the lifetime of perks to go along with that job.

His reported income last year was $405,409. Not a bad amount of jing if you ask me.

McCain and the Republicans continued attack on Obama for his "celebrity status" is the epitome of hypocrisy. Their hero, Ronald Raegan, who McCain proposes to worship, was the Grand Celebrity of all time. Enough of this! It is time for the American people to look at the facts. This country is in trouble, economically, environmentally, educationally, militarily, etc.,etc.,etc. The Republicans have controlled the White House for the last 8 years and the U.S. Congress for 12 of the last 14 years. The Republicans cannot get elected on their record, so they resort to these inane campaign adds and disingenuous information attacking Obama.
The question for us is simple: Do we want things to continue the same way they have been or do we want America to progress forward? The time has come to re-examine what this country needs, and evaluate it apart and separate from the political machinery represented by the Republicans.

They ought to watch this "out of touch stuff" anyone who can't even count the number of houses he has isn't only out of touch with the American public, he's ought of touch with himself.

He doesn't have to. He is hoping the MSM will air it and play it over and over again to deliver his message. Then talk about it in his defense.

Who is the real celebrity?
McCain has been the media darling for years.
He is running on his old celebrity status.

Obama plans to cut taxes on most Americans and raise them on Republicans.
I noticed tht the ad did not say that.

Who has 7 houses?
$500 shoes?
A private Plane?

Now that was the stupidist ad ever!!LOL And yes the repubs do think americans are just that stupid and its sad and scary to say but alot of them are!! Its just good to know that alot of us can and will read between the lines and know better. The saddleback church forum was a farse and anybody with a mind knows that McCain was given the questions before hand.Come on he knew all to well how to answer them but the shame is mostly on Rick Warren for helping to stage this against the american people. This is why alot of people don't even bother to attend church now! It seems like alot of people are also catching on to their lies too.And lets not forget that he keeps saying the hes the expert on national secrity and the msm for some reason has given that to him! Being a POW does not qualify you for POTUS!Show the war records and prove it then!! LOL YEAH RIGHT! I just hope someone in Obamas camp brings this to the forfront and hard! Its not questioning his patrotism its just questioning his qualifications!! OBAMA'08
