I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The McCain camp put out another installment in its anti-Obama "Celeb" ad series today. This time they're hammering Obama on taxes. The spot starts with a line about Obama's financial prosperity, a sort of counter-intuitive move considering the recent fracas over McCain's wealth and multiple homes.

"Celebrities don't have to worry about family budgets, but we sure do," the announcer says. "We're paying more for food and gas, making it harder to save for college, retirement."

The ad is not particularly original, suggesting that either this is not a serious buy (no word where it will air, though it will likely be shuffled into a previous purchase) or that the McCain camp still thinks it can bleed Obama on the celebrity meme.

UPDATE: A Democratic source emails this tidbit, undermining the idea that Obama (a celeb) doesn't have to worry about family budgets but "we" (presumably including McCain) do. "McCain spends MORE a year on house STAFF ($273,000), than the average person's home is worth ($218,000)."

This is according to personal financial disclosure forms.

It's not clear to me why Obama or anyone should WANT to be "in touch" with the people dumb enough to bite on this nonsense.

It was old to you the day it was born, but for the target audience, this stuff is evergreen.

What exactly is your point? None of that takes away from the fact that a man who has no clue as to what the average man is going thru is calling his opponent out of touch.

What does being white have to do with a family budget?

You, like McCain, will find out soon that straw does not make a very good handle to grasp.

Yeah, McCain doesn't want to talk about his wealth or the economy. That's why he gotta find a way to scare people, like (most likely) instigating that Russia/Georgia thing. His constant talk about being a POW, naming Petraeus at Saddleback as someone whose advice he values (the question wasn't even about war), and saying that something like another terrorist act would be good for him are scary.
He's got a hodgepodge of people to please and that's the one thing that will keep them on his side.
If the economy and his wealth become prime topics, look for some strange "national security" issue to suddenly develop.

You must admit that if there were ever an expert on being out of touch, McSame would be that person.
Lots, lots and lots of experience.....
Tell us again about the internets????

This is really funny when you think about it - here a guy whosenet worth is less than 800k is accused of being out of touch by the man whose net worth is 36 MILLION. That's like Hugh Hefner accusing the pope of having too many girlfriends.

Once again, attempting to project all the faults of McCain onto Obama.
Out of Touch: McCain - who's just learning about the internet???? Who's in the realm of the financially elite????

Just amazing...

This election is going to be a referendum of how ignorant and/or cruel the American people are:
Both to be determined by votes going to McCain.

Since the McCain campaign wants to talk about elitists, there's this from today's LA Times:

McCain, who huddled with advisors at his desert compound in Sedona, Ariz., said nothing in public. A nine-car motorcade took him to a nearby Starbucks early in the morning, where he ordered a large cappuccino. McCain otherwise avoided reporters.

Obama has one wife, one house and no calls for a draft. Mac has 3 strikes and is out (of touch).

"Celebrities don't have to worry about family budgets, but we sure do," the announcer says.

This is because most celebrities are richer than snot....like the McCain'ts!

Okay, McCain must be running out of money, because he used a lot of stock video, and decided not you use celebrities, or he thinks his followers will get that Obama is the celebrity. I don't get it.

I guess my dog ate my "rules" page on what number of people at a rally constitues one being a celebrity. I always thought the more people you can get to hear you speak the better. Boy, was I wrong on this one. So what is the correct number at a rally? 20,000? 30,000?? Would 32,500 establish the speaker as a celebrity? Or 33,201?? Does anybody realize how stupid this whole thing is??? You can't tell me that McCain would be "giddy" if he could get 50,000 people to come and hear him speak at one place. I think this whole celebrity thing is pathetic.

The max number that they can get to show up for a Mccain event.

Personally I would take this mcCain Ad... and then change it...It describes problems...

Yes and all these problems are do to a Republican president and a republican Congress...

What has mcCain worried is that Obama will not raise your taxes, He wont... But that he will raise his and McCain's. McCain is not telling you the truth!

McCains tax cuts get you 300 bucks and him 300K... and our kids more debt and a dollar worth less. You dont pay less taxes when your dollar is devalued by Half... you pay a lot more!

Regards

Economics 101!! Devalue anything and you eventually end up paying more on the back end.I.E VEHICLES. Simple,10 people test drive a car,NEVER loses its value. You buy and finance the car, drive it off the lot,BOOM depreciates $2500 dollars instantly. Devaluation of a product will always cost you more in the end. Can you say HOUSING MARKET????!!!

Why does the McSimple c@mpaign use the same picture of 0ba-ma in a lot of their ads. They must think it's not his best photo or that his appearance is somehow negative looking.
