McCain Celeb Attack Returns In New Ad (VIDEO)

The McCain camp put out another installment in its anti-Obama "Celeb" ad series today. This time they're hammering Obama on taxes. The spot starts with a line about Obama's financial prosperity, a sort of counter-intuitive move considering the recent fracas over McCain's wealth and multiple homes.

"Celebrities don't have to worry about family budgets, but we sure do," the announcer says. "We're paying more for food and gas, making it harder to save for college, retirement."

The ad is not particularly original, suggesting that either this is not a serious buy (no word where it will air, though it will likely be shuffled into a previous purchase) or that the McCain camp still thinks it can bleed Obama on the celebrity meme.

UPDATE: A Democratic source emails this tidbit, undermining the idea that Obama (a celeb) doesn't have to worry about family budgets but "we" (presumably including McCain) do. "McCain spends MORE a year on house STAFF ($273,000), than the average person's home is worth ($218,000)."

This is according to personal financial disclosure forms.

I think most people who have bothered to inform themselves know that if 0ba-ma has $4M it's mostly from his book sales. Also, he and Miche//e didn't finished paying off their student loans until they were in their 40's. And most people know that a $1M house is not exactly a mansion.

Maybe it's because of the current Republican administration and it's assault on our economy. McCain wants to continue the current administration's failed policy. Facts don't matter to republicans. It is simply about throwing as much dirt as you can on Obama at this point. They cannot attack his morals, they cannot attack his religion, they cannot attack his family values. They cannot attack him about his wifes wealth (A-la John Kerry). So they attack him because he is popular and people want to listen to him speak. Meanwhile they are saddled with a fossil who can't seem to remember simple details straight.

I think this is the most stupid timing for this ad after his houses gaffe. This gives the Obama camp a new possibility to speak about mcCains houses. How can a man with one house can be more elitist than one who has more than seven houses and a wealthy spouse with a privet jet.

I live in West Los Angeles near the UCLA campus. You can't buy a 60 year old fixer upper house (tear downs they call them) for less than $1.5 million. It's the land and location that are worth the bucks. People will pay a lot of money to live in the area - 5 miles from the Beach - best restaurants, schools - location location location.

I saw pictures of O's home in Chicago and that home would be $5 million in California it it was a penny.
