Gwen Baby Name

By naming their newborn son Zuma Nesta Rock, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale "have proven decisively that they're masters in choosing names that are both highly unusual and carry a lot of personal meaning," baby name expert Pamela Redmond Satran, co-author of The Baby Name Bible, tells Usmagazine.com.

"They've continued their own place-naming tradition by naming their son after Zuma Beach in Malibu," Satran explains, citing a profile of Rossdale which said he had an epiphany that began his career.

My name, Zoey, was considered strange and "like, totally weird" while I was in school, but now it's as ubiquitous as 'Heather' and 'Kim' were in the 80s. So, who knows? Maybe 'Zuma' will be all the rage someday. At least it's not the name of a fruit.

P.S. Names really do have an effect on how people perceive you. Some expect me to be a "Valley Girl" type, some expect me to be some pixie-like vegan hippie, but mainly I'm assumed to be a party girl. I guess it could be worse.

Zoe or Zoey reminds me of JD Salinger.

Kingston, a kid can probably live with. But Zuma? Maybe for a girl. I think he's in for a lot of teasing.

Zuma Beach is beautiful. I grew up right next to it.

When I saw that name, I immediately thought it must be named after Zuma Beach. It's in the heart of Malibu, and all kinds of celebrities live in that area.
