ABC News:

The Center for Responsive Politics has a thorough analysis of Sen. Joe Biden's campaign cash intake now that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has selected him as his running mate.

The industry that has given Biden the most cash has been lawyers/law firms ($6,567,404) followed by real estate ($1,297,690). Pro-Israel groups are the 8th biggest contributing industry.

Obama may decry lobbyist cash (or at least federal lobbyist cash), but Biden has taken $344,400 from lobbyists since 1997 -- making lobbyists the 10th biggest contributing industry.

I think the point of the article is that Obama "decries" lobbyist money and his very own VP nominee has taken a lot form them. No one on the Republican side has a problem with lobbyist money. Therefore, that would be a non-story.

Is ABC getting worse and worse, or has their reporting always been this weak?

ABC developed, produced and aired -- despite numerous objections about its falsity -- that phoney, fictional account of the pre-war years.
Anyone who doesn't know that ABC is pro-Bush, pro-war and pro-neocon ought to know it, and remember it when presented with anything ABC claims to be factual.
Better yet, avoid ABC. Then you'll have less lies to filter through.

Industries don't give money to political candidates--that's a crime. If the Center for Responsive Politics has any information to the cotrary, they should take it to the FEC.

True. And, Jake knows that. But, that wouldn't be nearly as inflammatory now would it?

Not as much as McCain, and that will cease now he is on the ticket. McCain will still take money even he were to win POTUS.

Let's see 350,00K over 11 years -- what does that amount to for one year? How does that compare to what McCain takes in a year. That would be better reporting. Hey press what about doing your job and "vet" McCain like you have Obama?

It's actually over 19 years (1989 to 2008). Jake didn't read what his own source said. And, that's about $18,126 per year.

After the McCain campaign's sustained assault on the media, it is instructive to see who still trotting out the Regrublican message. ABC remains a good and faithful servant.

Of course we can expect this from ABC which is yet another Republican mouthpiece. Basically news one can ignore in an election cycle where the primary goal is to win the g-dd-m election. Let ABC do a story on the many HUNDREDS of lobbyists still feeding McCain money to represent their stinking private interests.

"Obama may decry lobbyist cash (or at least federal lobbyist cash), but Biden has taken $344,400 from lobbyists since 1997 -- making lobbyists the 10th biggest contributing industry.

That seems a direct contradiction of the Obama message."

Pll-zz-zz! Let's get real sir! Joe Biden should and will have a statute in Wimington, Delaware in Rockford Park in his honor some day. He is not the ordinary politician of Washington in the last 35 years. He has maintained his equilibrium on ethics. "One of the poorest" politicians of the status quo because he has certain principles. Eee -- gadd!

Can you imagine the story of Abraham Lincoln abruptly avoiding a vote as a congressman in Illinois by opening a window to avoid the vote! Wheww politicians, huh? And he had a statute built called "The Lincoln Memorial".

Can the pettiness about nothing stop. MBNA is gone. It had blocks of gigantic offices around Rodney Square built like a college campus. Now gone -- for years -- the MBNA Bank. Not a story anymore. Unless, you want to write about bank mergers of the 90's or the current bank failures of the Bush years?

The Democratic nominee for VP for 2008 has a record -- for this day and age -- to be held high -- as a model to follow. In the halls of the senate he is that proverbial "diamond in the rough".
Himself being Joe Biden. That is only one of the many tributes why Senator Obama picked him.

you are crying about $344,400 over 10 years? your joking right? I bet Clinton has at least that much in a year; not to knock her.

Mc himself as much as he says he is against it has far more than that with his closet deals of business that provide kick-backs of some sort like exxon planes - has anyone looked into who if fueling the planes?

Where is vicky issman?

A long time powerful Senator who take in less than $350,000 is nine years from lobbyists

is obviously not a rethuglicon. For long time swamp dwellers, Biden and Dodd are about

as clean as you will find. I can't wait for our next Atty Gen to investigate neocon corruption!

I agree with you Absolutely. When you see a rabidly racebaiting ABC come up with such a stoopid headline, you know that they are fishing and coming up empty-handed. Let them look at McCain ten years back and see how many lobbyist millions they will uncover. What a joke of a story!

II's as though they want us to believe their lobbyists, PACs and special interest groups are no issue.

"The son of Barack Obama's vice presidential pick, Sen. Joe Biden, is a top partner at a Washington law firm that has lobbied his father's office, a family tie that could prove embarrassing for a campaign that has positioned itself as fighting lobbyists and special interests in Washington.

In the first six months of this year R. Hunter Biden, a founding partner of Oldaker, Biden & Belair, has worked on accounts that brought it $470,000 from nine clients, according to lobbying disclosure records.

Although firm members say Biden, 38, does not lobby his father, this kind of family tie, said Ellen Miller, executive director of the Sunlight Foundation, "raises the potential of a conflict of interest." ABC News

Of course the real money is made by Hunter Biden, Senator Biden's big drug company lobbyist son. "Hunter Biden, 38, described as a lawyer in the biography of his father distributed yesterday by the Obama campaign, lobbied for clients that paid his firm at least $380,000 in the first six months of this year, federal records show. " Blomberg News $380,000 in half a year is nothing to ignore.

Let's face it: Obama wants to change the way he governs if he is elected so if voters elect him, they will have a government by people, not by lobbyists as before. We can't go back in the past and expect EVERYONE had the same ideas as Obama's. That's what he called CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. People are attacking Obama as if we already had a PERFECT system. The unreasonable attacks may have some other hidden agenda?
Let's talk about HOW PERFECT McCAIN IS? No candidate is perfect. Voeters will elect the better of the two.
