***Updated, 2:20 pm***

In response to Barack Obama's VP announcement, John McCain's campaign has been reaching into old tv footage. First they released an ad featuring a clip of Joe Biden questioning Obama's experience at a debate. Now they have an ad saying Hillary Clinton was "passed over" for "speaking the truth" -- about Obama, of course. Watch:

Kathleen Strand, a spokeswoman for Hillary Clinton, responded to the ad with the following statement:

"Hillary Clinton's support of Barack Obama is clear. She has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq, and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn't. It's interesting how those remarks didn't make it into his ad."

Well, now McCain can pick HRC as his running mate, if he's so noble.

Wow, how do people watch this kind of stuff and not feel insulted? What an embarrassment for the McCain campaign.

Wait a Minute...Using Clinton's words against Obama is one thing. We knew this would happen. But the ad states as fact, that these words of "Truth" are the reason Clinton isn't on the Obama "ticket". Unless the McCain camp has secret ESP powers or is SPYING on the Obama campaign, they can't claim to know the reason why Hillary isn't up for VP. And yet they do claim to know the reason...which they can't. So the ad about "Truth" is really a "LIE."

MITT IS A "YES MAN" he dropped out of the race even tho no one wanted McCain.............only Huckabee stayed in this for his supporters even Mitt, good ole Mitt Romney abandoned his princples and toted the party line.............
Great job...............ya gotta love it.............I do wonder why keep voting in Republican primaries if they choose your candidate for you and force feed you with a fork.............show no respect in my eyes for even their own voters...........
but what do Ai know I am a DEM we vote til the end of the primaries in close races.

Unfortunately if Obama had picked clinton all of these same things, and more, would have been used in an endless string of attack ads.

Whatever happens pick Clinton, not pick Clinton, go to the military hospital, not go to the military hospital. It will be turned into an attack ad mo matter how lame. All you really need to do is to hire the scarry voiceover lady

Hillary had her pros and cons. the end is if she lost to a virtually unknown at the beginning. I feel they didn't have their stuff together enough to win and by the time the campaign re grouped it was too late.
i respect her but she had to earn her way like the rest. Obama put in work on the ground level, grass roots movement. I mean give him credit and no I did not see Obama himself do anything negative toward Hillary, I did hear some republican comments that offended me about both our candidates.
Final thing,
If the Repugnants win this election both sides of our democratic party loose and loose big....YOU KNOW WHY CAUSE THE REPUGNANTS WILL NOT LISTEN TO YOUR CONCERNS, YOUR WELL BEING WAS NEVER ON THERI AGENDA AND IF YOU HELP THEM GET ELECTED YOU WILL BE THROWN AWAY AFTER THEY USE YOU UP, JSUT LIKE COLIN POWELL, AND REV CJ WATTS....we need a show of where are they now....and cold case just to find the people who were originally on board with Bush when he started back in 2000.
At least you can argue with your own party about how to best implement policies important to you.
For a Dem to vote out of spite for the Repugnants is like eating at the dirty house on the block it is the last place you want to be but you took you silly self there anyway because mom cooked meatloaf

Sure, had Hillary Clinton been chosen for VP, McCain would have slammed her on her comments then attacked her and Bill for all the "ravens in their closets"..you can't win, you just can't win with the GOP, always opening their mouths, never saying anything important, like how they are going to get us out of a trillion dollar deficit THEY CREATED. How we are going to pay back China and a dozen other nations we borrowed money from to fight a dumb war, why we will not take a plain and clear hint by the Iraq government to get out of their country, and why America is tanking. McCain and his campaign are three sandwiches short of a picnic. They show clips of Clinton stabbing Obama in the back and then ask why she wasn't picked? *splutter*
What a futile waste of donations. He throws money around like water with no mention of policies or plans - just character assassinations and lies. There again, he doesn't have a grasp of economics - he's said so himself.

I hope Mitt is working on his acceptance speech!
After all how could McCain not choose the Republican that came in second?

Hillary lost based on the rules. Why are the people that voted for her in the primaries so angry and willing to vote for McCain simply because their first choice lost. When considering the fact that Obama and Clinton saw most things eye to eye it just makes no sense that her supporters are willing to vote for McCain.

Obama ran a clean campain and never complained about what in my mind were some very unsettling tactics used by Senator Clinton. This country acan not afford 4 more years underthese Repugs.

Clinton supporters please don't do something that you will certainly regret. I'm certain under the Obama administration Senator Clinton will have the chance to do great things. She charted new paths for the next woman to run and that is a true legacy.

That said, I don't think every supporter of Obama's is an academia-entrenched, birkenstock-wearing pothead. These stereotypes are horse$hit. My friends were absolutely split down the middle between Hillary and Obama. After Hillary lost, those Obama fans empathetically embraced those of us who were for Hillary because they understood our passion and our disappointment. Their compassionate display made for such a smooth transition for myself and others. It's not entirely fair to place the ball in the court of the Obama fans, but you guys won. I realize many of you have lost your patience (justifiably I might add). Perhaps talking to a Hillary supporter is the least of your concerns at the moment. Try to extend that olive branch for just a while longer. Let's all take a step back, take a deep breath, and collectively take a giant step in the right direction. Again, much respect to an incredible campaign. Please make a donation to Obama today and, if you can find it in your hearts, make a donation to Hillary's debt. Let's stay positive and take our country back!

Well said JollyFellow. I can't speak for others here but my frustration is with that minority of HRC supporters that say they will vote for McCain. I hope that now that the VP spot is decided, lets all give Hillary her due. She put a lot of cracks in that glass ceiling. But then lets ALL get behind Obama so we can take back our country.

Obama fans, much respect for a phenomenal campaign! How long will it take you to realize that degrading comments toward Hillary supporters only hurt your efforts? If you folks would back off the aggressive rhetoric for a bit, perhaps the Hillary supporters could get past their angst before November. Yes, many of them think Obama is an empty suit. Yes, many of you think Hillary is evil personified. The fact of the matter is that both genuinely want to serve the public good. Of course ego and personal gain enter every politician's efforts from time to time. Accept it and move on. Hillary would not have done what she did if she honestly didn't think she was a better candidate than Obama. The same holds true for Obama. Florida and Michigan should have been penalized. That said, let's not discount the number of votes Hillary received. We can't act as if the party belongs to one half (approximately one half for those who want to get technical) or the other. As a huge Hillary supporter, I confess that it has taken me a while to come to terms with the situation. But I am here, and I stand with you. I am not an uneducated, redneck, whiney baby (to quote a few, lol). I've got two undergraduate degrees, a masters, all my teeth, and no shotguns in the pickup truck I don't own. I just felt inspired by Hillary's campaign just as you do by Obama's. Continued.....

Hillary was my second choice. Barack was my third. I still have some issues with him, but I know that there is no alternative. I like the Biden choice.

A proposition.

If I was Barack here's what I would have done by now...

I would have met w/ Hillary. I would let her know unequivocally that she will be my first appointment to the Supreme Court.

I would make sure that in every speech, interview or address I gave, that I believe someone of her caliber would make a truly great Justice.

I think we'd see her speech at the convention give her whole hearted support. I think she would make an impasssioned plea to her supporters.

She's young enough to be there for many years. I think she'd be great. Some of you may disagree.

On C-Span- Right now. John is speaking to a group of high school kids . the school Cindy graduated from. John said- Cindy and I have fond memories of her walking to school from our house just down the street..
ONly latino kids are behind him... totally racists.

It was classic..

None of the kids were listening to him until he introduced.. Daddy Yankee..

John forgot the to introduce the chior.. and had to get back on stage and then minimized them by saying can't we just say who they are.. BUT the kids planned on singing the Star Spangle Banner.. He was so stupid...

Seems to me the Republicans passed over John in 2000. Why is he a hero now? BTW, has anyone seen any McCain family pictures of late? Why does he hide the family other than his wife? Who's raising the adopted child?
