***Updated, 2:20 pm***

In response to Barack Obama's VP announcement, John McCain's campaign has been reaching into old tv footage. First they released an ad featuring a clip of Joe Biden questioning Obama's experience at a debate. Now they have an ad saying Hillary Clinton was "passed over" for "speaking the truth" -- about Obama, of course. Watch:

Kathleen Strand, a spokeswoman for Hillary Clinton, responded to the ad with the following statement:

"Hillary Clinton's support of Barack Obama is clear. She has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq, and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn't. It's interesting how those remarks didn't make it into his ad."

Enough with the Clintons
Bill is just zealous and why should Obama consult Bill Clinton?
Bill hasn't even endorsed Obama!
I'm so glad that Obama did not choose Hill as VP Obama would have to have a taste tester and always watch his back!
All of Obama's supporters wouldn't vote for him if Hill was there.

I guess Obama is suppose to kiss the Clinton's A_S!

WHY? They are trying to start trouble but Obama is to smart to let it get out of control

Just pull the plug on Bill's speech!

the Clintons when they were in the WH did what they could to help fix the 12 years of Reagan/Bush

This ad is sleazy. But Hillary made it possible, She tossed the Democratic Party off the sled into the paths of the wolves in the interest of her own ambitions. She needs to immediately reject and denocunce this ad to maintain any former shred of dignity she has left. I'm sad that she sank so low during the campaign- I used to admire her and her husband. Now,,,...not so much (if at all). You need to give uthe American people a reason to like you and have confidence in you again, Hillary,--please. You used up all your chits, with little if anything to show for it.

When are you and everyone else going to get it? She didn't care. She said whatever was needed to hurt Obama and win! She always thought she could pull it through, and in the off chance that she wasn't, she did enough damage for the Reputs to win and help her chances later in 2012.

Now, everyone, even those who have switched to support Obama has to endure this crap for the next 2 months.
Everybody thank Hillary and her cronies for this madness!!

Do and say anything '08!

Her cronies include every other Dem primary candidate that had the audacity to criticize Obama. The GOP is free to reprise any of their debate comments as well. The only way to avoid this in the future is to abolish the primaries and have the DNC chairman just pick a candidate (hint - it wouldn't have been Obama).

What does McCain know about Truth? I doubt that the two have ever been introduced.
And did the old POW person note in passing what has been said about himself?
Or is he too busy trying to count to seven? (Actually Johnny Mac can count all the way to 894, his class rank -- out of 899.)

I fear what will happen to this country if McCain wins. Any Democrat is better than McCain. I just hope he doesn't invade Russia or start the draft. Then the words "I told you so" will have no meaning at that point.

in that case, i guess you are planning to vote for one of the third party candidates -- bob barr, cynthia mckinney or ralph nader. because sadly, paris beat both mccain and obama after all with her lighthearded retort saying that the best plan was one that contained a little of both their plans.

I don't see how Hillary Clinton would be able to handle that so-called 3:00am phone call if she can't handle this? I thought the whole point of that ad, was that she had the best interest of the country at heart? I am glad that she won't be there to answer that call.
She is a bit self-serving and if she doesn't DENOUNCE THIS AD - as she always asked Obama to do here and there, and STEP UP TO THE PLATE AT THE CONVENTION - then she can kiss her reputation in the Democratic party goodbye.

she did denounce the ad. but this election is Obama's and now Biden's to win or lose people. hillary is not the candidate.

Mccain is just beneath contempt. They way he is running his campaign is a sure sign of the way his administration will be. I guarantee you he finds a place for Cheney and Rove.

bull. was biden complicit in the first ad mccain ran quoting biden saying that obama wasn't ready to be president.

if hillary had just beaten out obama for the nomination and she turned around and picked a white, youngish, senator, with similar credentials, obama supporters would be rightly ticked. and the repubs would be exploiting it.

if o had selected a governor, or a white male with military experience, then perhaps he could argue that hillary didn't fit the requirements he was looking for. but to pick someone who is not as good as hillary on almost every measure (including voting for the Iraq authorization, working with W on the bankruptcy bill, almost as old as mccain, and not as strong as hillary on the economy). is just a bad move.

did you think O was running a dirty campaign, when he kept saying that mccain had lost his bearings. this is the big leagues, play hard ball or step down and let hillary lead the party.

if you think this is a dirty

I'm pretty sure that if you go to the caucus or primary for a party you need to declare party loyalty. Otherwise you have committed election fraud. If I see anybody from my precinct with a McCain bumper sticker or sign or if they write a pro-McCain letter to the paper I am going to report them to the Secretary of State.

why. i'm a 40-year democrat. i've voted democratic in every election since i first got the right to vote in 1969. i'm a liberal. and a woman. i don't think barack obama is qualified to be president. i think he has as little experience as W had, when he ran and was selected by a combination of money, media complicity (they liked him more than gore remember) and party insiders. lots of platitudes that meant nothing ("compassionate conservative"). did well reading a teleprompter (or when someone was speaking in his ear, just like O). then he turned around and picked an old man with inside govt experience to fill in for his foreign affair deficits.

been there, done that. it may be that when i get in the booth i won't be able to pull the repub lever, but if you ask me now, i'm voting for mccain.

If everything you say about yourself is true, you are either a liar or a fool! I dont believe anything you just posted, since if you are 40 years old, how could you have started to vote in 1969, you were 1 years old!

How can you compare a man with Obama's history, education and credentials to Bush who was a c student, failure at business and was from a rich oil family?

You make no sense. Obama is a constitutional lawyer who is extremely articulate. Bush is a show-monkey. Obama is a senator, Bush was a Governer. They are very different and their backgrounds and character could not be more different.

I am trying to understand how a Democrat could vote for McCain...I just don't get it.

The part where I say that you were only 1 years old when you started voting was a joke, but the rest of my comment was serious. How could anyone who has been so loyal for 40 years say they could vote for a warmonger and anti-woman candidate like McSame, it makes NO sense!

And Hillary's experience consists of one more Senate term and living with her husband. Very impressive. If cohabitation is a qualification, are you willing to support Laura (or Barbara) Bush for president?

I am sure that McCain's people had a negative ad ready to go criticizing Obama if he had picked HRC. ( I am sure (and hope) that Obama's team has ads ready to go criticizing McCain no matter who he picks.)

You're probably right that they had ads prepared, no matter who Obama selected; but if he had selected Hillary, they would not have used ads to go after her supporters! Although they probably had these prepared too.

While I'm glad Obama got the nomination, it would have been fun watching the McSame camp unloading on all the Clintion Slime (Hillary included). By fun I mean watching Bubba go bananas daily. I think he would have been locked up in the kook house before the first of October.

McCane's ad looks desperate. However, it will register with some. I would really love it if Hilry came out more powerfully against him. We all know she has spine, but her "response" to this ad is weak and tepid. If I am to believe what she says, and if people are to be swayed by her, then her support of Sen. O has to get much much louder, much clearer and more forceful. I want her to sound like she did when she was campaigning for herself, and she's a long way from that right now.

hillary is not obama's mother. he and his new vp have to stand on their own feet. it is just completely galling after all the garbage that has been thrown at hillary (and bill) by obama, his campaign, and his supporters to demand that she bail him out. it's unheard of. if obama wanted hillary to win it for him, he should have picked her as his vp. he decided he didn't need her in his boat, fine. it's his prerogative. now win it without her.

give me a break, people. he wants to be president of the USA with all the power that implies. what's he going to do when putin and the russians continue to test us, cry out for hillary to tell putin to stop it.

jeez. this is pitiful.

What??? Obama threw garbage? It was a frickin' primary and he played it relatively clean. There is great precedent for stepping up and supporting the nominee of your party even after a tough run. He doesn't need her to win, he should have her vocal support.

FYI- Obama is not commenting on needing Hillary, we are on a blog and some of us are expressing our opinions that she should be doing more. As a matter of fact, I haven't heard him make one comment about this.

After the garbage Obama threw? What are you smoking? What was he supposed to do in your eyes when she said "As far as I know, he's not Muslim" and McCsame is ready to be President, but Obama isnt? She has only a few more years experience in the Senate, what the hek is she talking about?
