Politico:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told CBS News' Katie Couric on Saturday that Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) is a "formidable" but "wise" choice for the Democratic ticket.

...

Couric asked about McCain's answer when Politico inquired about the number of homes he and his wife, Cindy, own. McCain referred the question to his staff, who said he had at least four. Records show the number could be twice that, depending on how you count the family's properties.

"I am grateful for the fact that I have a wonderful life," McCain said. "I spent some years without a kitchen table, without a chair, and I know what it's like to be blessed by the opportunities of this great nation. Cindy's father, who barely finished high school, went off and distinguished himself in World War II in a B-17 and came back with practically nothing and realized the American dream, and I am proud and grateful for that, and I think he is a role model to many young Americans who serve in the military and come back and succeed.

Just to be absolutely clear, for the upteen-billionith time, being a POW is a FAILURE. it means you failed to accomplish your mission. That's a bad thing. It's the opposite of the intended result. Being a POW does not show leadership. It shows failure. Somebody in the Democratic party operations please start getting this message out. NOW.

Funny how McCain doesn't mention the house in Panama his parents brought him home to after he was born. Constitutionally, the man isn't even qualified to hold the office! Funny how with the right wing the constitution is considered only to be 'suggestions' - except the 2nd amendment which was apparently crafted by the hand of God himself.

POW's usually don't go out in public and boast about their POW experience. Very rarely do they talk about it because it was a very painful part of their lives and they don't want to relive it. They would rather just leave it in the past.

Yet here comes Johnny Mac, running for the office of the POTUS, citing his POW experience as if he's teaching an unsolicited lesson, or as if it is an actual qualification to be the president.

What kind of a man would repeatedly engage in unsolicited citations of his painful and traumatic POW experience to boost his chances of being president, when it wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't running? He's a charlatan? Opportunist? Manipulator?

He just can't talk about the issues, so he appeals to people's sense of pride and patriotism. If you were a POW, you should be honored and respected, but don't use your experience to gain higher office. That's just disrespectful and unpatriotic.

Couric is no journalist. She is a shill for repubs. Why did she not ask McCain these questions "Wasn't you father-in-law a convicted felon, involved with organized crime" ? "Why are you so determined to keep both your medical and military records sealed"?? "Why does your wife refuse to open her IRS returns"?? Instead she just lets the old goat rattle on about what a great guy Cindy's father was, a role model for young people!!!!! Yes, John, he did a good job, enabling you to live in luxury, BUT, be careful the pre-nup you had to sign might leave you out on your arse if you do not give the Ice Princess the WH.

The economics in America is strong when your a POW.
Obama wasn't a POW, don't trust his judgement.
I wake up to a nice bowl of POW.
MLK was no POW, nor was Kennedy.

My uncle was a long-time distributor for Hamm's beer in Chicago, and ammassed a fortune in various stock holdings and hotel ownerships. Before the war, he and my dad had a succession of grocery and liquor stores on the south side of Chicago going back to the Capone days. My father had stories about Capone's guys coming into his store with pictures of guys my dad had to agree "he didn't know nor ever saw before in his life." My cousin and i did some investigation after my uncle's passing 10 years ago and discovered that he too had been mafia- connected, and that, in fact, everyone in the beer distribution business was. While the FBI would have history buffs believe that the 20s was all about a crime wave--and some small part of it was--the core reason for the crime was economic. Bootleggers and mafiosos jockeyed for position knowing that temperence was short-lived and when the sun rose on alcohol consumption legality again, they each wanted to be first in line. My uncle was not a bad guy,
but that is not something his family is proud of and, in fact, like to dispute, even though the proof is there.

My best friend's uncle was a union organizer for Falstaff. The company used to send the goons with bats after him and his fellow-workers on a regular basis.

He's just like you and me. The average American gets has a grandfather and a father that were admirals in the Navy, and as a result we got to goof off at the Navy Academy, barely graduate, act stupid in million dollar aircrafts and get shot down during Viet Nam because of our poor piloting skills. Yeah, I said it. I'll honor every US service man for their sacrifice to this country. At what point does "Tea and Cookies McCain" need to take true responsibility for his actions? He needs to o more than just give lip service like he does for his first marriage and his involvement in the Keating 5 scandal.

John McCain has come back at Obama over "housegate" by making a reference to Tony Rezco....probably not spelled correctly......and the help he gave Obama in buying his house. If you go to Google and type in "McCain's ties to the mob" you get quite a lot of information about the Henleys and their connection to the Arizona mob, the part it played in the acquisition of their liquor business and the wealth that financed McCain's political career. The McCain's have fabricated such a fairy tale about their life that it is no wonder they can't remember all the details. What is very disturbing is that none of this seems to be investigated or reported. The story is like something out of The Godfather.

To be fair, you couldn't do business in Arizona in those days without being in with the mob. The Goldwater's did the same thing, as did the Babbit's. Chief Justice Rehnquist was a bag man between the republicans and the mob when he was a party flack.

So translating McCain's comments ... McCain married into the American dream big-time and that's OK. Obama studied and worked and earned the American dream on a much smaller scale and that is elitist.

I guess if you say stuff like this over and over again, hoping no one will apply any critical thought to it, it might work.

I guess we all now know why Cindy is always right there by his side. He obviously cannot be trusted to know where he is and how to get home(s).

Isn't there someone that can force this man to be tested medically to see how far the Alzheimers has progressed?
