Jesse Jackson Jr. Takes His Turn At Convention

Invoking heavily the history of the Civil rights movement, Illinois Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. delivered a thundering speech recognizing Illinois Senator Barack Obama's accomplishments. An enthusiastic audience received Jackson Jr.'s speech, which comes months after an embarrassing gaffe by his Father. Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.

The location of the convention, in Denver, the Mile-High city, took on special importance in Jackson Jr.'s Speech. "I'm sure that Dr. King is looking down on us," he said, noting that "this is the first political convention to take place on the site of a mountain top."
