Rather than write all these negative comments, can we please focus on what really matters and that is sending out all our positive energies and prayers to Barack, so that he can be our next President.

Isn't that Andy Kaufman in the first picture ?

Please, why would we want to see these photos? How about something about issues?

The title of the piece should have given you a clue if you were hoping to avoid photos of candidates' wives. Issues are covered elsewhere.

Have you ever had a friend that the moment you met her, you just instantly hit it off? That's the impression I got when I watched Michelle and Jill on Saturday in Illinois. They both come across as two very warm women who genuinely like each other. Very nice to see. Even though it has nothing to do with how their husbands will govern. :-) Above all, judgment and intelligence are the most important things to me - after that, everything will fall into place.

"How sickeningly tabloid."

So I guess we have no right to learn even the most basic of family backgrounds about those we are considering for two of the most important positions for which we vote. We are destined for nothing but position papers and policy statements. The human element is irrelavant. Can you define misanthrope? Look it up; you will see your picture right under the definition.

"At first Biden would credit Kinnock when he quoted him. But at some point he failed to offer the attribution." perhaps he "misunderestimated" the capacity of the press to absorb the FACT that he attributed, over and over, that he was using someone else's words; something McCain refuses to do when he rewrites history and even steals from Alexander Solzhenitsyn's tale of his experiences of years spent in a Soviet Gulag.

There's no such story in "Archipelago."
From Factcheck:
*****

Q: Did McCain lift his cross-in-the-sand anecdote from Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archipelago"?
John McCain told a story about a Vietnamese guard who made a sign of the cross in the dirt while he was a POW.
The story is very similar to a story about Alexander Solzhenitsyn from his times in the Soviet Gulags.
Did John McCain steal this story?

A: There's no such story in "Archipelago." There is a somewhat similar story attributed to Solzhenitsyn, which we've traced back to Rev. Billy Graham by way of former Richard Nixon aide Charles Colson. But that's not proof that McCain's story isn't true.

What's America's problem with Michelle--a brilliant, strong woman with more personal accomplishments at her age than Hillary had at the same age? I don't get it, and I'm white, by the way. Hillary was a fiery, "anti-American" "leftie" of the first order in the 60s, but no one talks about that anymore. Naturally, as a smart, principled black woman, Michelle has had some legitimate "issues" with America, for God's sake. How could she not?! But she'll be the smartest, most personally accomplished first lady every to run the White House, if she makes it there. And she's elegant, and has a lovely sense of style to boot. What's not to like?

Biden's wife is super, too. Both families are superlative. Lucky America! Let's put 'em all in office!

The problem she is a black female, the American people have never ever seen a person of color in the White House. Let's just face it. It's because the color of Barack and Michelle Obama's skin. It's said to say in 2008 in this day and age that race plays a huge part if they will get into the White House.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:57 PM on 08/25/2008

You must be talking about a different Hillary. Hillary Rodham Clinton was a Republican throughout the 60's, not a "fiery leftie of the first order." Maybe that's why nobody talks about that.

The same kinds of things were said about Hillary in the 90's when Bill was running for president and after he was elected. People thought she had no business being involved in political affairs other than being an unobtrusive First Lady. They thought she was "uppity" too. Michelle will get the same treatment, and sadly, it will be even worse because she's black. For anyone who might be tempted to say that her race isn't relevant, don't bother. I live in KY, and I know for a fact that it is.

Enough with the hyberbole. Michele O is accomplished, beautiful, interesting. She has yet to show herself the equal of Eleanor Roosevelt (and not to be too blunt, try doing what Eleanor did all the while being openly ridiculed for her distinct lack of beauty), but I hope she does, hope she outdoes her in fact. In terms of style, I don't get it. Michele's fashion sense just isn't my cup of tea I suppose. Not that that matters one whit.

Because her husband didn't get the nomination? If he had, I'm sure she'd be just a good as Michelle will be. Cindy on the other hand is being shipped out to Georgia. Does McCain think he's already Prez? Talk about presumptive!

Not very smart, though. She had scheduled a meeting of poets at the White House, which the poets refused to attend when when Bush invaded Iraq. She's a librarian, for crying out loud, and she said that she didn't know that poetry is political. Excuse ME?! Poetry is nothing if not political!

Obama/Biden 08

Note: Strip the process of the beauty contest aspect of determining fitness to lead for this could result in distorting the assessment. I am glad the wives of the two men on the ticket I will vote for are pretty. I am most concerned about the qualities of leadership within the man at the top of the ticket, followed by the VP, and if I consider anything about the wives, it is going to concern their compassion, their intelligence, and nothing more than that. Physical appearance must not enter into my calculation of virtue or worthiness -- that is sexist as it relates to these two women, and unwise in its potential to distort.

The Obama/Biden ticket is a ticket of substance and that is in direct conflict with the celebrity notion the other side is pushing.

Actually a beauty contest was held for both the males and females. A handsome, youthful, good looking black man against seasoned yet not nearly as attractive other men like Biden and Richardson or little guy Kuchinich ( who more fimly stands for many of the things most obama supporters like and even more, no matter what they had to say was a lost cause from day 1.. In our country looks count a lot. They did when Kennedy beat Stevenson and Johnson for the nomination and have throughout the last half century or so. Photography changed the landscape. In the old days of the 18th century and 19th centruy, when what most people learned what a candidate stood for by the print media which had no photographs caused people to actually pay attention to the written word, but in a society that sets a life opinion of a person in the first 87 seconds of meeting them, looks count more than any other factor. And we have a dynamic duo in the wives of the candidates and a darn good looking presidential candidate.
