In another ad appealing to Hillary Clinton supporters, John McCain says it's okay to vote Republican. Watch:

Transcript:

DEBRA BARTOSHEVICH: I'm a proud Hillary Clinton Democrat.

She had the experience and judgment to be President.

Now, in a first for me, I'm supporting a Republican, John McCain.

I respect his maverick and independent streak, and now he's the one with the experience and judgment.

A lot of Democrats will vote McCain. It's okay, really!

JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.

Debra Barstovich was a delegate at the Democratic Convention before she was ousted for openly supporting John McCain.

I almost hope McCain IS elected so people like this can be shamed into the realization that they are responsible for what would be a disastrous 4 years.

No. No. No. No. No. We must not all suffer because this spiteful and painfully stupid woman made this painfully stupid ad. She is allowed to vote for whomever she pleases. She will surely be getting LOTS of hate mail because she made this ad. Meanwhile, we all deserve a real change! GO Obama!

It took 4 years of a failed Carter presidency to turn democrats into republicans. Looks like BO is going to do that even before the election.

I don't understand how you've enjoyed the passed 8 years so much that you're in a hurry for more of it? What ever you see in the current machinations of the republican party is beyond me and if you that McCain is going to throw the bums out then you're full of it.

Let's get over the Hillary-Barack episode. The real enemy is before us and will show no mercy in their attempt keep and maintain control over the treasury of the United States as they have done so for the past eight years for greed and profit. Anyone with common sense, rational thought and senses intact would never forego knowledge of the serious issues facing this country by abandoning support for her party's candidate because her candidate did not win in the primary election. This is childish behavior, but does indicate that personality trumps the hard facts in the campaign for the presidency. I was a Hillary supporter, but will take her defeat in stride for the good of the country and vote for Obama. This country cannot survive another republican administration. Vote republican at your peril!

It was Obama's responsibility to bring these folks into the fold but
- Obama told them to "get over it"
- Obama has only raised $500k to pay off her debt
- Obama's staff made it obvious she was not considered for VP, which confuses HRC supporters because McCain is strongly considering Romney, Kerry picked Edwards, and everyone would have forced Clinton to pick Obama if the tables were turned
- Obama personally called Kaine and Bayh Thursday night to tell them they hadn't been selected, but staff called HRC Friday afternoon (Obama called a few hours later)
- The 3am text message Friday night announcing Biden was an obvious (all be it funny) dig at the Clinton 3 AM ad

There is some mending that needs to take place and time is running out. These Clinton supporters are truely turned off and Obama needs to reach out. Hillary could take an extra step too, in her speech she could ask her supporters to go to Obama's website and donate $25 as a favor to her. That would get those voters financially invested in Obama's campaign.

"- Obama has only raised $500k to pay off her debt"

Terry MacAullife (sp?) just said that there has been over $6,000,000 for her debt this month alone.

And as far as the rest of your very doubtful "facts" point to a link that backs any of this up.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:32 PM on 08/25/2008

I will provide links but you really should be able to Google this yourself.

"Clinton insiders have grumbled that Obama hasn’t done much towards fulfilling a promise to help her raise cash from his donors, who have chipped in an estimated $500,000 to date." August 10, 2008 Politico.com/news/stories/0808/12429.html

The "$6 million" hasn't been raised by Obama. I will post the other links but I will have to look for each.

Here is when the calls were made:

JONATHAN KING: Wednesday night. And then on Friday, an Obama staffer called a Senator Clinton staffer to say that she was not going to be the vice presidential pick. And then when word of that leaked out, Senator Obama himself called Senator Clinton Friday evening to inform her of that fact and we're told they had a conversation Friday evening.

I HEARD the Clintons didn't want to be vetted. But, go ahead blame everything on Obama. He's been down that road before, but guess what, some of those roads have been paved. How do you think we feel that some of our donations might have been used to pay for all the Obama bashings. How would you feel if you thought your money was used to pay for someone to sing praises to McCain. How do we know you are a Democrat? I need a satisfied mind before I act hastily. When I spend my money for gas I expect to get gas ... not water.

Threats aren't going to bring the HRC voters on board. They need to be courted, not told Hillary is irrelevant or a bad person. The Obama supporters could be a little more gracious. Ask for their vote, don't demand it.

I wish these so-called "McCain" supporters would cool it too - they make HRC and us all look bad. She asked them to join her in supporting Obama. I wish they would listen to her.

Why do they need to coddled, courted or asked to vote for their own best interest?

It's a no brainer between O & McSame.

And rabprevent is right, if the Clinton's ruin this it will have catastrophic reprocussions for the party and the country for years to come.

How would that be for a legacy?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:25 PM on 08/25/2008

No, they don't need to be courted. We're all adults here. Hillary Clinton lost. Barack Obama won.

Yet, some of her people continue to talk about how "inexperienced" he is, even though he's served more time in elected office than Hillary has. It looks like we just have to accept that some people just don't like the guy, and there's nothing Obama can do about that. If you offer details or information that contradicts one line of reasoning, they emphasize another. They don't like him because he's black or he's not a woman, or because he's "arrogant" or "sexist," or maybe it's because he's from Chicago; it goes on and on and on. They will find any reason to not vote for the guy, regardless of what Obama does.

The bottom line is that they are willing to vote against EVERY Democratic initiative that Hillary has devoted her life to. They are even willing to vote against their own self-interests. If they were truly interested in universal healthcare, or better pay for teachers, equal pay for women, maintaining a woman's right to choose, etc., why in the world would they vote for McCain???

The best thing for Obama to do is keep pressing forward, and hope that these hold-outs will come to their senses, and realize that this was never about the candidates; it's about the country. Hopefully, they'll realize that before they screw themselves AND the country over.

My Lord, can't you see that we don't know if you are a Democrat of Republican. It seems like we are always on the defense here. I don't even bring it up. You say we behave disgustingly. Okay, we will let you decide how we should make amends for our behavior. Where do you want us to send our money ... to the RNC or DNC?

Hillary Clinton supporters are completely delusional if they sabotage Obama's run on the Whitehouse
which I think they are actively doing at the moment with a wink and nod from Mrs Clinton .Hillary cannot come back into 2012 there will be too many angry Obama supporters.Obama's success or failure is tied directly to what kind of relevant voice the Clinton's will have in the future.

Were McCain to win (shivers) by 2012 there wouldn't be anything left. We'll be in WWIII, all of our children will have been drafted, we'll all be living in shacks and the rest of the world will be laughing at all of it.

Do any of these Hillary Holdouts who are now voting for McCain remember the moment at one of his town halls a few months back when a woman asked him "How do we beat the Bitch"? McCain didn't tell the questioner that her words were crude and sexist. Clearly amused, he just smiled, let that question resonate in the air and then moved on. A insightful moment into McCain's character. He must have found this sort of discourse acceptable or he'd have told the woman that the way she phrased her question had no place in a political forum regardless of party. A true democrat will vote for Obama because the alternative is too terrible for America. And too terrible for women. These past 8 years of Bush and Cheney have been ugly. We mustn't forget that.
