I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Democrats are more nervous about Barack Obama's prospects than they were a month ago, the New York Times reports. Maybe his new ad -- a jauntier, more aggressive attack than the campaign has released before -- will help. To the tune of Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World," a vocalist sings of John McCain: "I'm not up on the economy ... don't know much about industry ... really can't explain the price of gas ... or what has happened to the middle class." At the end, the ad features no less than three pictures of McCain and President Bush together, with the lyrics "If I could be just like you ... what a wonderful world it would be." A narrator concludes, "Do we really want four more years of the same old tune?" Watch:

The ad is running on national cable and in battleground states.

Full transcript:

"I'm Barack Obama and I approved this message."

Like John McCain, I am a honorably discharged Viet Nam veteran. The war had a profound affect on me and I currently suffer from PTSD. After many years of being out of the service, I was diagnosed with PTSD. Although Mr. McCain's service was honorable to his country, after watching him discuss his capture I believe that he suffers from PTSD. This is apparent to me as I watch the saddness in his eyes when he recalls his capture. Its takes a Viet Nam vet to know one. As a Viet Nam vet who suffers from PTSD I can tell you that Mr. McCain needs urgent treatment. I would not want him near the "Button" he could have a flashback.

I don't know that much about this computer stuff. How does one post it on you tube. I think everyone should read this. If you know how to somehow post the comment nationwide, please feel free to do so.

You have to open an account on YouTube. It's free. The signup process is relative quick and there are instructions for uploading. Essentially, you click the upload button, then navigate to the video on your computer and upload.

And voila!

How about an ad showing the do nothing Republican Congress that was in power for 6 years before the current Democrats - they took long breaks, passed little in legislation and gave GW a blank check.

The Republicans are doing terribly at every level - we need to take advantage.

DEMOCRATS - Lets get a 60 seat majority in the SENATE!

Great ad!

A suggestion to Team Obama:

Make an ad using as backdrop the Hall & Oats Song - - "Out of Touch, Out of touch."

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:10 AM on 08/27/2008

Remember, every Obama ad going after McCain will have one of two themes:

Out of Touch and/or

Just Like Bush, More of the Same Mccain
This ad was great because it's funny and annoying at the same time. This is what people remember when they get in the booth.

John McCain has already picked his running mate and his name is George W Bush.

Vocalist:

But I know that one and one is two.

And if I could be just like you

What a wonderful world this would be.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:51 PM on 08/26/2008

I liked the ad and agree with a previous poster...in order to communicate with a
Republican, you must use pictures, and one syllable words . Songs are helpful but
in this case it may have been better to have used a country song and a reference to NASCAR
to get the neaderthals full attention.

Yes, an audience of toothless moon-shine swigging Obama fans. That's what he needs for the next ad. It will be a landslide victory when all those conservatives hop on board.

Dear God, if there is one, I am so literally bloody tired of the way elections are completely mishandled here and do nothing to serve the public nor the nation. And Wolf can go f himself with that stupid phrase regarding having the best political team and or coverage - it quite simply is nothing of the kind and clear evidence the man has no idea what such coverage would even look like. And Flops News and the rest are similarly pathetic, with somewhat better efforts at MSNBC this year, but still in truth substandard. This is not a horse race, this is the picking of the single most important elected official in the land. And unfortunately this is proof to me, as if any more were needed, that the United States is both culturally backward and culturally stupid.

And that concept has only arrived within my brain in the last 24 hours - it is not that Americans are individually any more stupid than those of any other nation, it is not the case - sorry some who think so, but this is true - that the educational system is so failed, anymore than that of all other western nations, that people here are personally less capable of making real judgments or understanding decent arguments as I've met plenty of people in other nations just as ignorant as the worst here, it is that the culture that has grown up here has celebrated and enshrined the one line comeback, the schoolyard insult. This culture has deified the idea that any that oppose your position are not simply in disagreement due to different perspectives or experiences, but rather that those that oppose are inherently stupid morons incapable of any understanding. Hence the vitriol and political verbal violence and dishonor. And my suspicion is that until some sort of cultural change takes place this country is in serious straits and unlikely to really address its very real problems.

And one final comment to those that run this otherwise excellent site, why the silly restriction to no more than a small number of words in a post? Proof again I suppose, were any needed, that this country cannot culturally handle longer thoughts than might be expected in a 30 second commercial or a small smattering of words.

Regardless of where they are on the issues...they both are guilty of flip-flopping...there is one thing that holds true: One is honest. One is not. One will bring more pain. One will bring hope. One has a pure heart. One has a heart bought and paid for. One will continue "righteously" on the path of America's destruction. One will bring us back to the old America that our ancestors - all of them - so desperately fought for. One will create a future for our children. One will sell that future to corporate greed overseas.

I'm done with the issues. The issues don't even matter anymore. I vote for the pure of heart. Giving the chance to walk with an angel whose wings are new, or a devil who has a hell of a lot of experience. I pick the newbie.

I agree with your choice, but must make a point regarding the phrase 'flip-flopping'. Unless done in cases where one changes one's opinion due to polls most changes of mind mis-labeled as flip-flopping are not bad things. Many of the ideas I held to be true when I was 15 I no longer hold - that is a sign of maturing, not failure. The most dangerous persons I have met are those that when confronted with real evidence that their views are mistaken due to the arrival of new information or new facts nevertheless continue to steadfastly hold on to wrong ideas or positions. An accusation of flip-flopping to me is now more an indicator of lack of character in the person using the phrase rather than a lack of character in the person accused. But then as I've noted America is culturally stupid and so I expect this kind of truly stupid phrase to continue in common usage. Not poking at Jared137, just fed up of hearing the very stupid 'flip-flopping' phrase.

USBrit, you are correct in that the term "flip-flopping" has become a term used poorly, too often by the frail-minded. But when used in reference to McCain, the term can easily be used as it truly should be, over and over again. Take any of McCain's stances on nearly any issue, save abortion, in 2008 and compare it to his presidential race stances of 2000. In some cases he has changed his stance multiple times, or appears to, depending upon who is interviewing him and when. That, my Brit friend, is flip-flopping.

Try the same with any of Obama's stances. Where there are changes, there are reasoned changes or compromises. Otherwise there is a level of integrity we don't see often in American politics.

That's why he's My President. Obama/Biden '08.

A little lesson about the word "Con" in French. Francophones over the world snicker and chuckle when they hear the word: "Con" or "Cons". If one refers to their French-English dictionary, here is what one finds: Noun, masculine (a) (Slang) stupid idiot (Slang), stupid bstard (quite Vulg), useless tw*t (quite Vulg), stupid f*cker (Vulg), f*ckwit (Vulg, humorous), stupid c*nt (very Vulg); c'est le roi des ~s he's a complete and utter tw*t (quite Vulg), he's a complete f*ckwit (Vulg, humorous); le pauv' ~! poor f*cker! (Vulg); Ã la ~ bloody useless (Slang), f*cking useless (quite Vulg)
(b) (Vulg: v*gin*) c*nt (Vulg), twt (Vulg, less common)..So for Conservatives who like to refer to themselves as "Neo-Con" or "Con" or "Cons" and then wonder why they hear the chuckle or see the smirk of a Francophone... Now you know why...It's a French "cons"-piracy against "Cons"-ervatives!

John McCain would NOT be four more years of the same thing. He would be four years of much much worse.

The choice is simple. Elect Barack Obama.

I second that! McCain will be worse than Bush! McCain is itching for a war! If McCain get's in office I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't try to start a war with Russia!

MCCAIN IS A WARMONGER!

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO MCCAIN!!!!!
