Barack Obama has responded to the ad tying him to Weatherman William Ayers with an ad of his own. "With all our problems, why is John McCain talking about the sixties, trying to link Barack Obama to radical Bill Ayers?" it says. The ad was put out by an independent group, but McCain's campaign has tried to use Obama's connection to Ayers against him.

The original ad, whose creators released their donors after questioning by the Huffington Post, was funded by one billionaire McCain supporter. The group has sunk nearly $3 million into airing the ad.

Watch Obama's response:

According to Ben Smith, the ad is airing in Ohio.

McCain's campaign has responded in turn to Obama's ad: "The fact that Barack Obama chose to launch his political career at the home of an unrepentant terrorist raises more questions about Senator Obama's judgment than any TV ad ever could," spokesman Brian Rogers said. "And the fact that he's launching his own Convention by defending his long association with a man who says he didn't bomb enough U.S. targets tells us more about Barack Obama than any of tonight's speeches will."

That's the line "John McCain, Just More of the Same" . Repeat that after me folks.

Every time you go blog post on TownHall or CNN, MSNBC, ABC, or even Fox add that line to your close.

A vote for McCain is a vote for 4 more years of Incompetence, Corruption and Cronyism.

John McCain, Just More of the Same!

Good ad.

Actually quite classy - not a personal attack on Mc like the Mc campaign loves to do. But hits important points!

Why doesn't he simply come clean on the real issues with his relationship with Ayers. Avoiding and evading isn't going to cut it with the swing voters. He needs to just honestly reveal the complete nature of his association with Ayers and answer all questions about it from the press. He should stop hiding the facts. And the crimes when he was eight years old strawman, laughable.

Ayres, whose father is rich and influential in Chicago, got off scot free on a technical violation by the FBI who wiretapped his group. Dohrn was convicted of a felony. For that reason, she cannot get a bar card in Illnois but that has not stopped Northwestern University from making her an Associate Professor of Law. If your parents are rich enough, they can protect you from any consequences, as long as your criminal acts were committed in “Progressive causes.”

You're wrong. The charges were dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct. The lie that Obama is somehow connected to Ayers is being promoted by Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, who helped pay for the devastating attacks on the military record of Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry in 2004.

I guess that logic would also would explain Laura Bush's pass on reckless manslaughter charges in her high school senior year? Or perhaps some of her husband's youthful misdeeds?

Kbar-you mean like GW Bush's dady getting him out of drunk driving charges out of not showing up for duty and being AWOL> Like that. But wait.. GW Bush was is not and never will be a progressive. I suggest Fubar you and your kind read a book called The Wrecking Crew it may open your eyes to what the Repub party right wing is up to and how they are going to destroy our middle class and privatize everything. Hope you are a billionaire or have an inheritance coming.

You are right if your father is rich and your grades are so bad you cant get into a texas State collge, you can get into Yale or Harvard.

And even if you have the lowest test score, you can jump magically infront of 500 better qualified people andget ionto the national guard texas air resrve.

And in time of ar you can refuse to take a physical and get an honrable early discharge. neat trick.

And if you are the son of admiral and a dismal student you can get into the Navel Academy and some how and stay in inspite of drinking, breaking every rule and terrible grades. Then even get into flight school.

Yes we get the idea of how that works.. like with no business experience starting out as a VP in Cindy Dads company.

Regards

Obama served on a board with him for a few months.... its not like he got to chose who he sat on the board with. You people have nothing but distortion and inuendo to help you win. You really don't care who you hurt do you. If you are going to make accusations, then lets see the facts. If not, then keep them to yourself.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:02 PM on 08/25/2008

There is no real relationship w/ Ayers. They served on a board at the same time. He has said that but in your eyes he must be lying. If there was more to the story, it would be out by now. The repubs are digging deep and can't find what is not there.

What facts? What relationship? He's met the man. He said that at the debate. Ayers was never convicted of anything. If they'd have had anything - they'd have put him away. Why didn't they?????? The Republicans and the MSM are trying to create a story where there is none. Don't be hauled in to their trap.

He isn't hiding any facts stupid. He doesn't have any relationship with Ayers he serves on a board with him . Why doesn't McCain admit that a judge said he has bad judgement in that whole Keating Five thing?

Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

Obama needs to strongly emphasize Mccain's connection to G. Gordon Liddy.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-oped0504chapmanmay04,0,6061828.column

This guy was the mastermind of Watergate and actually destroyed the Nixon presidency.
He held a fundraiser for McCain and contributed over $4000 to his campaigns. McCain appeared on his radio show and told Liddy he was proud of him.

Has anyone investigated why Ayres was never charged for his supposed crimes in the Weather Underground? As a child of the Sixties myself, I recall a theory that Bill was working for the CIA to infiltrate the organization and therefore was never charged. Not sure if it was ever proven or revealed, but I know the CIA (usually) protects its own...until Valerie Plame.

While underground, he and fellow member Bernardine Dohrn married, and the two remained fugitives together, changing identities, jobs and locations. By 1976 or 1977, with federal charges against both fugitives dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct (see COINTELPRO), Ayers was ready to turn himself in to authorities, but Dohrn remained reluctant until after she gave birth to two sons, one born in 1977, the other in 1980. "He was sweet and patient, as he always is, to let me come to my senses on my own", she later said.

Do your homework mental midget. Better still, stay home in November as you'll probably not find your own polling place.

In regards to the Weatherman Charges, Ayers never saw the inside of a court-room.

Unlike McCain, who was charged and investigated by the Senate.

About the same time the rest of the several thousand faculty at the state college did along with the thousands of students he taught there. And yes they lived in the same neighborhood. I here there were Repug professorw and repugs living in that neighborhood... Eh gads..

Ayres irrespective of his bad deeds has been clean for 40 years and does charity work...

When did McCain start hanging out with Duke Cunningham and convicted felons with mob ties in Arizona like his first boss, Cindy's father?
