Texas GOP Targets Obama's Kenyan Half-Brother

ABC News:

In a web video, the Republican Party of Texas hits back Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., on the "housing" issue in a web video that attacks the Democrat because his half-brother George lives in a shack outside Nairobi, Kenya.

"Barack Obama has viciously attacked John McCain and his family for being successful and living the American dream," says the ad's narrator.

Once again the trolls miss the point. The problem with McCain not knowing how many houses he owns is not how many houses he owns, but he doesn't know how many yet says he knows that the economy is just peachy for every one else. Those who think Obama should buy his half brother a house should be wondering why someone who has seven can't even rent one to her half sisters who she pretends don't exist.

It is a shame to use a defenseless family member as an attack. The family history is complicated there was a separation of over 10 years between him and his father's family. In such a large family it is possible to miss a few. His father had several wives. In Africa that means a hellalot of siblings. Heck in my family I have only met ten percent of my cousins let alone other relatives. Also Obama is worth just three quarters of a million dollars. That is not enough to do squat for the entire family.

If Mr Obama is so concerned about the poor, he should start with his own family. I don't buy the fact that you "miss" relatives. He knew this man existed, he mentioned him in his book. If you care you will keep in touch. My mother has half sibilings all over the country and she manages to keep up with all of them and she lives on social security.

Just because someone is related to another by blood doesn't mean they will be close to them, and just because they're not, doesn't mean there's something bad about that person or their character. Family is diverse and complicated, and not everyone is close to all of their family, nor are they expected to support them just because they are successful.

Well, it is apparent that you grew up in a perfect loving and function family. However, there are many of us who did not. I have a half brother and sister. My brother and I had a great sibling relationship, but my sister and I barely speak once every 15 years or so and we live in the same town. Barack is not responsible for his younger sibling. If his brother was honestly trying to change his lifestyle I am quiet sure he would have a lot of support. Please refrain from commenting on issues that you have no knowledge of.

Someone who made $4.2 million last year and lives in a mansion that a mobster helped pay for should not be throwing stones. When Mr. Obama's flesh-and-blood lives in squalor, raising the standard of living of his opponent's extended family is probably not a smart idea.

Desperation time for McCain. I, too, have a half-brother that I don't know. My parents divorced when I was a child and my father remarried and had a couple of children. I have no idea where they are or the circumstances of their living status. So, it's totally unfair for McCain to hold Obama responsible for the plight of a half-brother he most likely doesn't even know! Shameless! I sure hope people get sick and tired of all the negativity from the McCain campaign. It is tiresome and has nothing to do with the issues I'm concerned about! I mean, dang, get a life!

Ironic that the GOP would try this when news broke last week about Cindy McCain's own half-siblings. She will have nothing to do with them--even calls herself an only child. Why doesn't McCain take care of them?
