Anderson Cooper's Bar Mitzvah

I spent the morning at the CNN Grill on the DNC convention center grounds, and had the opportunity to chat with anchor Anderson Cooper, he of silver hair and eyes of blue. Somehow we began chatting about the altitude, and I mentioned that at a high altitude like this, one drink actually had the effect of two (so drink plenty of water, journos!). Somehow this led to an admission — when he was a young boy of 13, he'd longed to join his friends in the ancient rite of passage marking the transition from boy to manhood: The Bar Mitzvah.

This may explain his meteoric rise in media, but that is a topic for another day.
