Clinton

Hillary Clinton just wrapped up a private fundraising event for WomenCount.org, a group founded late in the primaries by a handful of major Clinton donors, and one that is shifting to become, according to one organizer, the "MoveOn.org of the women's movement."

Clinton's remarks reflected the extent of frustration and resentment over the presidential race among the few hundred gathered attendees, mostly women. Clinton didn't mention either Barack Obama or Joe Biden by name during the roughly 10-minute speech -- she referred once to "the nominees."

And the New York Senator's unity argument seemed to be aimed specifically at supporters who were considering abandoning the Democratic ticket and backing John McCain.

"I believe that with all my heart that the Democratic Party represents a much better future for everything we believe in and care about," she said, "and I will be making a very strong case tonight that we stand behind our nominees in order for us to keep pushing progress forward. We cannot be deterred, we cannot be diverted."

Conversations with attendees found much of the widely-reported anger over the Democratic primary.

One Clinton delegate from North Carolina, Marc Friedland, recounted his convention hall confrontation with DNC Chairman Howard Dean. He said he pressed him to explain why Clinton-backing delegates were being, in his view, blocked from supporting their candidate on the convention floor.

Some griped about Obama's outreach efforts -- "If he'd actually say what he stands for, maybe I could get behind him," said one -- while two major donors claimed that while they were willing to support Obama, they viewed the message from his campaign as, "Get on board, you don't have any other choice."

I don't think this continuation of attacking Senator Clinton by the bloggers and media is going to help Senator Obama at all. It's all editorial and innuendo that upsets both Obama and Clinton supporters. I believe the media is trying to fan the flames and create something that would have passed over already. I don't think Obama supporters to be calling anyone rude names as you are only making things worse and falling into the media trap. If you sincerely want to unite the party you wouldn't go around calling people immature names. It's not what Senator Obama or Senator Clinton want. Either we stand united or we fail in November.

Very well said.

It's bizarrely shocking to see how everyone buys into whatever the media says. From about 1998, I realized to never trust anything the mainstream American press says. Ever.

Excellent point. By constantly taking the media bait and writing incendiary posts, some bloggers are falling into a trap and perpetuating ill-will. I strongly believe that the Democrats will solidly get behind our exceptional candidate, Barack Obama. And there are a fair number of Republicans who will vote fro him as well. Here's to a big win in November, and better times for America!

The real problem is Bill. Hillary will support Obama and has issued a very supportive statement on the Biden nomination. However, the sociopathology of Bill Clinton is becoming more and more evident.

We need those women who promise to stay home. It's going to be a close race, so let's show that we are adults.

Anyone who is surprised by Hillary and Bill's behavior must have been living under a rock the last 12 months. The Clintons are some of the most disingenuous people to ever slither through the White House. Hillary is looking forward to 2012 and being able to look at all those hapless Democrates and say, "Told you so." She and Bill are only team players if it benefits them. Teddy Roosevelt blew the Repbublican party apart with his BullMoose Party at the turn of the last centur. Wilson was elected but did not receive anywhere close to the majority of the popular vote. He also led the country into WWI. History is about to repeat itself. At least this time when the Dems whine about losing the election they won't be able to point a finger at a third party candidate like Ralph Nader or Ross Perot and cry foul. The blame will lie squarely at the Clinton's doorstep. Neither Bill nor Hillary are anywhere as big as PeeWee Reese was when he embraced Jackie Robinson. That would take real courage and the ability to be team player.

There's no proof that Obama is a team player. Choosing Hillary for VP might have gotten him points but that was never going to happen. Everything Obama says and does benefits Obama. I know bloggers will say he could have gone into corporate law and made a lot more money. True. It's also true that he opted to pursue power, knowing that big money would follow. If Obama loses this election, it's not the Clintons fault, It's Barack's. However given his history of whining and playing victim I'm sure his team will blame the Clintons.

YOu know, it cracks me up that the right wing, the MSM and the PUMAS keep saying, "we need more, more, more from OBAMA! He doesn't give us any specifics....yada, yada, blah, blah...." Maybe if they quit their whining and grousing, and listened, they would have noticed that there is no candidate who has been so specific about his goals and how to acheive them, than Obama has.....

If anything, Obama is usually considered too specific. THEN people complain that he needs to "dumb down" his answers and that people won't listen to him, because his answers can't be put on a bumper stickers.

Now, MSM, PUMAS, and right-wingers, go pick on your own candidate (mcCain) if you want some answers. I haven't heard him be asked by anyone to answer to or FOR, or explain ANYTHING. He gives one word "answers,'" funny little stories (not really funny, and questionable factually), usually can't even answer a simple question, never explains how he is going to pay for all the conflicts he wants to get into, never says how he plans on solving healthcare, there is not one single thing he has set out any plan about or for! NOTHING!!!! Just WAR, WAR, I was a POW, No taxes. That pretty much sums up his "policies."

When people say they don't know what Obama believes in, what his policies are, or anything about him, I suspect they are lying or ignorant.

The essence of racism, homophobia...and sexism...is to make the person WRONG no matter what they do in order to justify an agenda or objective.

So, when we SEE it happening and proffered by Mark Penn/Karen Hughes (his new hire) -- or other Clinton Inc. surrogates whose media careers were made by their extended web/empire of influence -- we have to ask ourselves WHO BENEFITS?

All roads lead to the malevolant Hillary and Bill Clinton, whose lust for POWER and MONEY cannot be sated -- and will do whatever takes -- TO WIN or, make their opponent LOSE. We need to stop being in "Bosnia" denial and GET this.

We Democrats liked this when we needed them to go up against the Republican juggernaut, but we paid a price. IMPEACHMENT and SCANDALS followed them out of The White House -- and cost Al Gore his Presidency, giving us George W. Bush. Clinton Inc. never challenged what he did these last 8 years, because that was Hillary's entree as the first woman President.

Ladies, this is about HER AMBITION -- not ours. Thisis about Bill's unvetted BUSINESS DEALS -- not your economic future. The Party knows this. The Nominee knows it. The majority of women know it. Republicans know it.

Senator Obama wants to get Americans out of the Bush/Clinton cartels of influence and away from their expensive toadies' influence over our MEDIA and other deregulated/no-bid DEALS for their friends/familes.

You are absolutely right...both the MSM and the Rovian Republicans wait to see what Obama (and now Michelle) do, then they will whine that they didn't do the opposite. Doesn't matter a whit what they actually did. It is all about OPPOSING and hoping that the dimwits who supported Bush don't catch on to how Republican propaganda works. A historian-friend told me that if people knew what the Republicans really intend to do,nobody but the very rich would vote for them.

Witness the two jerks responsible for the latest swiftboating ad. One is a tax nut who wants to give corporations even more tax breaks , l reducing the tax base, and forcing ordinary people to pay more. The other is a guy who wants to prohit not just abortions, but availability of BIRTH CONTROL. Anybody who has heard the first George Bush saying that we had to get rid of abortions because we need the cheap labor, or Tom DeLay (at the gathering of college Republicans) saying that we must oppose abortion because we need military volunteers, anybody who actually LISTENED, could figure out what these people are really up to. If they liked children, they would vote for programs that benefit the already-born.. But they don't, they oppose them because their rich friends need the tax breaks more than the children need help.

Why don't you Obamatrons take your energy and get out there and pass the word about Obama and get people signing on to vote for him instead of spreading your hate and rude comments...You love Obama for his fairness, polite and drama free demeanor but the majority of those who post here have none of these attributes.

We're SICK of the HATE directed at Hillary by this website and Obama supporters.

So a group of us have teamed up to forward all Hillary-bashing links by Obama supporters, to every blog and website that supports Hillary.

We want people to be informed of what kind of people would be in power if Obama won.

I think the public fellatio you refer to is expected by Pumas for Obama to kneel down in front of Queen Hillary and show his "respect." He has done everything but THAT. He has been nothing but considerate of Hillary. they just want more, more, more. No candidate has ever had so many "demands" placed on him/her by this bunch. They don't even have the class to ask nicely! And you call us OBAMATRONS????

We would just LOVE to get on with it! We thought the Hillary crap was over, and most have been looking forward to this convention. Now we have to listen to Hillary, Hillary, Bill, Hillary, Hillary, Bill, PUMAs, division......

And if it bugs you, why do you take the time to read these? This is a blog. This is what people do when they are frustrated. If you don't like it, don't play.

hillary clinton could have squashed this thing a long time ago and come out smelling like a rose, had she opted to be magnamanous and accept that she ran a lousy campaign she would have uped her stock, one thing is certain and that is Hillary Clinton started out with name recognition, lots of moneyand the political establishment behind her somehow despite the trumpeting that she has shattered glass ceilings what she has managed to do in my judgement is to show that she is nowhere close to being an effective leader .She ran a horrible campaign from the start and as it became clear that she would loose she got more and more shrill and nasty.check mate you lost.

most. idiotic. statement. ever.

First of all, unless it's O*bama or B*iden making the statements, some blogger on a website will not be the "people in power" if Obama won.

Get over it. At what point will people like you realize that you have squarely entered shoot-own-self-in-foot land? Honestly, there is nothing to be gained by this line anymore, do you still hold out some strange hope that some last minute wrangling will make Clinton the nominee? Do you think that by spreading poison and bile around that will help get Clintons causes supported?

Honestly, all you are doing now is ensuring McCain gets elected which is pretty much the worst case scenario for anyone who TRULY cared about what Clinton was about, and not just a member of the Clinton cult of personality. It amazes me that people always refer to cults when they talk about Obama supporters, but the reality is, some Clinton supporters have clearly gone into the delusional cult-like worship land with some of the antics we've seen since the primaries ended (you do know they are over right?).

President John McCain.

Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Well, get used to it. Because whoever you originally supported or ended up supporting, come January 2009, that's the name we will be saying.

What will President McCain do? He'll appoint conservative judges to the supreme court who will overturn Roe v. Wade. He has said he loves Roberts and Alito, so a woman's right to choose is gone. He will, as much as possible, preserve the war in Iraq. If the majority of Americans want us out of Iraq - or, God forbid not to enter another conflict in Iran - McCain is the wrong guy. But he's the guy you'll get. He's pro-business, pro-tax breaks for corporate interests, and as a reuslt, anti-middle class. That's what you're gonna get. Want universal health care? Won't happen under President McCain, so be prepared. Want women to make as much as men? Won't happen under President McCain (I am male, by the way). Want to see any progress on issues of equality for gays and lesbians? That sure as hell won't happen under President McCain.

Want to vote for McCain? Fine. Go ahead. Just know what you're getting for the vote.

This isn't about which candidate you hitched your wagon to, or whether or not you feel respected. It's about POLICY and which candidate stands for WHICH POLICIES. The Republicans and President McCain will be a disaster, and we'll have Hillary's die-hard supporters to thank for it.

People, People, what you Hillary lovers don't realize is that her vetting would never have passed muster. No only are there problems with Bill that would have been a problem but Hillary too has things in her past and present that if the press decided to print them, she could take down the democrats in this election. A major newspaper has been holding back a story for almost a year but main stream papers try not to print this stuff. John Edwards was an exception because the Enquirer had already printed the story.
And you don't think the Republican machine was just licking their lips waiting for her to be VP? They would have brought her down more easily than Barack as she has more history and problems in her past.
It is time to get real and join the team. I was neither an Obama fan or a Hillary fan but it pays to be realistic. I would not put it past the Rovians to plant trouble makers in the Puma group. It's their style.

The republicans are clapping their hands in joyful glee, seeing the dissention within the Democrat Party. They are playing this game over-and-over again on the republican FoxNews channel.
They've adopted the the Julius Ceasar's motto of "DIVIDE AND CONQUER" !!!!

Come on Hillary supporters, let's get our act together. I also voted for Hillary, but now I'll support the Obama/Biden ticket. There is too much at stake here to play silly games, which might cost us the election and give the republicans a 3rd Bush term in the White House !!!

Barack HOPE Obama / Joe "Fighting" Biden in 08 with a Greater Democrat Majority in Congress to prevent the constant obstruction from the republicans ... who have repeatedly stalled, filibustered and blocked 90 good Democrat Bills in Congress, since the beginning of this year alone. This must stop if we want to move forward progressively.
