Grist.org:

"I'm a big believer that to get the American people to agree on transformative change, you've got to show bipartisan support," Virginia Democratic Senate candidate Mark Warner tells Grist. "And I think if we're really going to get the change in the energy field, it's going to take that."

Warner, the former governor of Virgina and current candidate in the race to replace retiring Republican Sen. John Warner (no relation), was once rumored as a potential '08 candidate for president, and later as a possible VP pick for Barack Obama (a post he said he wasn't interested in). Now the centrist Democrat has been tapped to deliver the keynote address at this year's Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, Aug. 26. It's the same prestigious slot that launched Obama to national fame at the 2004 convention.

They breed Presidents in Virginia, and Mark Warner is one of them.. It's just a matter of WHEN IMO.

I really liked his speech. It seems alot of pundits have a real problem with intelligent people. I found the substance of the speech compelling and interesting. This guy has really walked the walk and been successful. We could all learn alot from him. The criticisms of him remind me of what Al Gore has had to tolerate for years. These type of people are a real threat to those who control America.

Who IS this guy? And why being supposedly a “keynote speaker” did he speak BEFORE Hillary?

Funny but Begala said today that he was wrong to criticize this speech before he heard it. He said he actually really liked it.

So did I.

The early part of the speech was ok on the economics, but the rest was just solely for Mark Warner's election. These guys never cease to amaze me. I know they have to get elected so they play it safe, but the continued lack of "testicular fortitude" of the Democrats other than Hillary Clinton will only ensure a McCain Presidency.

I'm sure I'll get my share of people only focusing on this part of the comment, but Carville and Begala are right as usual. The Democrats have to go on the offensive or else this election will slip away.
