***WATCH ROUND 2: SCARBOROUGH V. SHUSTER***

Monday night during MSNBC's convention coverage, Joe Scarborough was describing the surge John McCain has been experiencing in the polls over the last few weeks — but Keith Olbermann didn't want to hear it. Scarborough caught him mocking the suggestion, at which point the "Morning Joe" host rattled off a bunch of poll numbers defending his point and making the case that the McCain camp "has dug out of a grave" and "if this convention had been held two weeks ago, it would've been more of a coronation than a convention."

Olbermann and Chris Matthews scoffed at the suggestion that the race is close, with Matthews asking, "Are we done?"

This whole MSNBC watch is incoherent. I don't get it. Someone must have something personal against these guys.

I happen to like all three of these entertainers.... as just that, entertainers. If you want serious political analysis you don't go to cable news anyway.

What's with this "Hate Everything Olbermann" section at HuffPo?

Do you have any idea how much Olbermann has contributed to the progressives and Democrats since he started Countdown with Keith Olbermann back in 2004?? He was the ONLY show that dared speak about voting poll "irregularities" and the conviction to do so night after night.

Now he's getting a bad bunch of crap here on HuffPo when, if anything, they should be going after the likes of Scarborough and Schuster instead!

I guess it's a condition in advertising dollars you attack MSNBC and KO, huh?

Yeah, I logged in this morning expecting to read stories about how Morning Bore has been spouting RNC talking points (natch), and how he wanted to talk about nothing but the McCain 'step on Obama's bounce' VP non-story. Instead, I see the Keith Olbermann Death-Watch...

Yeah, so he's done a lot for the Democrats. I've been a fan of Countdown since 2003, and after 5 years of staunch support, even I can admit when success has gone to his head. He thinks he runs the network. He may ACTUALLY run the network, but that doesn't give him the green light to publicly humiliate his coworkers. There is a thing called "professionalism" that he needs to relearn. Apparently success has gone to his head. Hell, recently I've had a hard time watching Countdown before the DNC convention. I don't want to escape from the hell that FNC created only to run headlong into the other hell that MSNBC is currently creating. What was that? "Absolute power corrupts absolutely"? Yeah, Mr. Olbermann needs to eat a fat slice of humble pie. Seriously, it seems that every night is a one or two placer for O'Reilly as "worst person in the world." Give it a break. We all know that O'Reilly's a joke. I personally don't give a crap about who's winning in the ratings. Hello? I'm ALREADY WATCHING YOUR SHOW. You obviously don't need to convince me as to whom to watch. Let some air out of that inflated head already, will ya?

Scarborough has made a career of attacking the left, which is in a do or die struggle to save this nation from totalitarian ownership by the multinational rich.
Morning Joe is a shill for the biggest money, an apologist for traitors, pure and simple.
Any insult he receives from anyone is well earned.

I am a long time moderate Republican who enjoys watching left leaning programs as I believe it makes me a more informed individual (I never watch Fox News as it is annoying, even to me as a Republican). I have watched Countdown somewhat regularly and have noticed Mr. Olbermann getting uglier(attitude, not appearance) and more skewed as time has passed. When it's his show I can understand it as he is giving a strong contrast to programming on Fox, however it does not seem appropriate for him to be anchoring at a convention when there is no attempt to be middle of the road. Scarbrough does go overboard plenty in the morning when he over talks Mika or a guest and that does offend me, but he does attack both left and right ideology and politicians. He is certainly a Republican and was giving his take on things when Olbermann was overly rude. I miss Tim Russert, we just don't have enough journalists like him in a time when they are desperately needed.

Oh Pleaseeeeeee! S-c-u-mborough is a p-a-t-h-e-t-i-c , arrogant, ly-ing neo-con shill! He spews his talking points every morning. The sound of his voice makes me want to P_U_K_E! He's been shoveling BS for JM, and his sidekicks Mica & Willy are W_I_M_P_S! I'm glad that Keith O called him on the lies, and someone should have done it a long time ago. JS is a bully, and I wish MSNBC would send him packing! S_C_U_M_borough and his ilk are the ones who sold us the war, and the B_U_S_H fiasco! We are mad as H@ll and we're not going take it anymore!

Neo-con Shill brigade: Brokaw, B. williams, D. Gregory, Tucker, Murphy, and a few more on NBC!

Kudos to Keith!

WHO exactly is claiming it is imploding? I haven't seen any of that except on Huffpost which makes me wonder more and more about Huffpost. Is it trying to go for the fakenews people to get higher ad numbers? Trying to slam the left side of the dial in order to please all the trolls?

So who is claiming this implosion at MSNBC???

Who wrote this article? Olberman and Matthews "didn't want to hear it?"

They let Scarborough rattle on unmolested for at least a minute! Besides, they've always been a little antagonistic with each other because Olberman's a liberal and Scarborough is a conservative and Matthews is... something. So of course there's a little conflict. When hasn't there been?

I'm confused by the purpose of this article.

One HOPES one can learn something from knowing the perspective of the particular commentator, but then one has formed one's expectations of the commentator's perspective from - previous commentary! My expectations of Scarborough are, he is a social conservative but also a FISCAL conservative disgruntled about the bush Big Government Big Spending extravaganza, and also genuinely comprehending of the Iraq invasion lies, if way behind that parade.....

Is anybody bringing up McCain's staunch and extended support for Bush's campaign to privatize Social Security? Scarborough loves McCain because he loves the pipe-dream of "small government" and privatization??? Just askin'.....

"It was shovel to shovel" -- That was a great comeback by Chris.

From another angle, I have seen no signs of over-confidence on the part of the Obama campaign concerning the potential outcome of the election. They have not been walking with a swagger, and talking with arrogance about the chances. Hijacking the message is another cheap ploy these people try, and again, sadly, there are those who will buy this gibberish and be motivated somehow by it. “Who does that Obama think he is, McCain’s puttin an old fashion whippin to him now -- so says Scarborough!”

Keith, when you are good they hate you, however when you are good you become susceptible to reading your own press clippings. Avoid this typical failing/temptation of those who are good at something. Do not become that which you have made a career exposing. Resist the temptation to billow.

Keith is the best thing on that channel. I also like Chris Mathews for his smarts as well as Rachel Maddow whom is always on top of her game. It's that r a c i s t Pat Buchannan who must go!!! All he needs is a white sheet. I love the crowd that they have outside of the roundtable during the convention. It is the funniest thing to hear them boo and put good ole boy Pat in his place. All of a sudden MSNBC is going to implode? What a bunch of nonsense. The only thing that happened is that Mike Murphy got embarrassed last night when he tried to lay a bunch of Repub nonsense on that crowd and they handed him his a s s. That coupled with Chris Mathews rightly calling him on his nonsense is why all of a sudden there is a "problem" at MSNBC. Nonsense..go Keith go!!!

Couldn't agree more.

All BS made up by the other press.

Murphy is an embarrassment to conservatives with his rabble rousing...well maybe not...it's what they excel at.

I'm a faithful viewer of Olbermann's Countdown and I can't stand Joe Scarborough. But it looks to me as if Olbermann has often been at fault in thes dust-ups during the convention coverage. He could have disputed Scarborough's cheer-leading for McCain without the "shovel" comment. That's just rude and unprofessional.

Love me some Keith, I personally hope he keeps Kicking *** and taking names. I still don't quite understand why David Shuster, was suspended for saying the Clintons were pimping Chelsea out during the primaries. What did they think - that she was still 12. I would really like to see Keith and David together; two Pitbulls saying what they really think about everything and every body. I'm personally tired of all the other polite supposed neutral reporting on NBC and it's subsidiaries. The Today show is a bore, Brian Williams a bore, Chucking tee, boring! David Gregory, don't make me laugh! I'm not going to even mention Nora. I'm going to leave Andrea Mitchell alone today too, but....I'm ready, to see the rumble and that means Keith and David telling it like it really is - Luv em to death. Plus which, I still like reading my news in the newspaper, the news magazines and C-span and try to figure out what the real truth is, because essentially, we are not getting it from the likes of CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS , Fox!? The local News. Anyway, carry on Keith Olbermann

ALl I ask is they retire Pat Buchanan like an old tire. I can't stand to hear the constipated whine of his voice every again.

Did you hear Buchanan whining like an old sow, saying the media was being too hard on Palin. He said that women would be outraged by this. When Michelle Bernard tried to interject her feelings from a woman's point of view, he told her "shut up you're not an expert". This guy was one of Nixon's architects of the scorced earth, cultural division that has been the Republican playbook for forty years.

MSNBC should get rid off right wingers from its programming, or it will never be a competitive tv. Why would an extereme right wing person tune to MSNBC while they have the FOX? MSNBC should focus on left leaning issues and their rating will top the fox.

My money is on Olberman and Maddow. They are on-the-nose. Schuster is a great contributor-own show? With all respect, Brokaw is retired and doesn't reflect the 21st century going forward.
Matthews seems testy and retro -- I loved him in his heyday. Does he still want to run in PA when Specter steps down?

what the hell do anyone of these people know? some openly support the GOP while others support the DNC and frankly who cares about polls (Republicans say they don't) and at this stage they will change and fluctuate until the last day of the elections.

Scarborough does not listen. He is always cutting people off to tell them what he thinks. He belittles people who don't agree with him. He keeps talking about how he campaigned and how it should be done so, my question is, if he was so great, what happened?

Thanks Keith, I needed that laugh. Sorry I missed it in real time, however I'm tuned into CSPAN for coverage because I just can't stomach the media's interrupting coverage. I'll see you after the convention Keith
