***WATCH ROUND 2: SCARBOROUGH V. SHUSTER***

Monday night during MSNBC's convention coverage, Joe Scarborough was describing the surge John McCain has been experiencing in the polls over the last few weeks — but Keith Olbermann didn't want to hear it. Scarborough caught him mocking the suggestion, at which point the "Morning Joe" host rattled off a bunch of poll numbers defending his point and making the case that the McCain camp "has dug out of a grave" and "if this convention had been held two weeks ago, it would've been more of a coronation than a convention."

Olbermann and Chris Matthews scoffed at the suggestion that the race is close, with Matthews asking, "Are we done?"

what!! I think it is funny!! I personally flip between CSPAN and MSNBC- but i like Matthews, olberman, and maddow. i am happy they are anchoring and thank good ness joe is only in the morning..joe has no idea what he is saying..every time he says something it is wrong.

Again i like cspan because it is unfiltered and you get to hear all the speeches..john kerry was great the other night!!

but joe doesn't have a clue!

The only ones in your list that are consistent is Olberman and Maddow, Matthews needs to be get off the air and go have a beer with George W. Bush.

Oh come on, Matthews is over the top, but he is always entertaining. Everyone slams Matthews, but his style is his own, and he really isn't ideological; that is, he isn't the NBC equivalent of Hannity.

Matthews believes the 0 isn't a regular guy, you can't have a beer with him....why? Because he isn't white, that's why. I can't stand Matthews.

About the infighting. How these men, with loud voices bringing the politics to a gutter level.
Joe is a rupg, yes, but when I used to watch him in the evenings , he was very critical of his own party. Keith , on the other hand, wants to choke them...
Rachael in on board, bring Hillay Rosen also, to replace Keith.
May be then, I may turn it on.
For now, it is PBS and NPR.

Joe and Pat Bucanan are only honest when there isn't an election and they tell truth to power, but when election time comes around they put their party and conscience before country.

I tend to think that Buchanan is playing devil's advocate much of the time on MSNBC. I've never been a fan of his, but he occasionally says some things that makes sense. If you read some of his articles, it is easy to see that he has very little use for neo-cons. On TV however, he says stuff that I know he can't possibly believe just to play the part of the right-winger. I guarantee you that he has no use for McCain.

I have a great admiration for Keith Olbermann, he wasn't afraid to speak and give straight forward talk at times that it was not popular. While Bush's ratings were still high. He stayed on message while everyone else was with Bush as they are McCain, stumbling over thereselves to try to paint the popular picture, instead of pointing out EXACTLY what was going on. Keith has been right on for years while other missed the boat completely. I have not always agreed with him but at least he isn't so RADICULE that you can at least listen to the whole speech. Great Job Keith!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work. You are one of the few you do you homework and you don't shoot from the hip. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really like Keith Olbermann, I like the fact that he is not like all the other news commentators, he is unconventional and intelligent. Some may find him "rude", but given the state of our nation and the dirty ways of the GOP, I can't imagine him acting in any other manner--he feels the frustration and aggravation and I like that in him.
Keith is way cool!

MSNBC should get rid of Morning Joe if they just want to apppeal to Libs-get rid of all moderate and conservative listeners. This would make all Libs happy but would not be considered a wise business decision.

It may. What if you had an all liberal network to compete directly with Fox?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:12 PM on 08/28/2008

I agree, just be the complete left to Fox's right and the rating will go up. Progressives don't want to sit there and watch Pat every single day, or Joe either. They have jobs at fox waiting for them I'm sure.

Scarborough was a loser as a Congressman and he stinks at his current gig. He's better suited to Faux News. Matthews gets on my nerves and at times seems to be a loud mouthed loose cannon. It seems he and Olbermann do not like one another and it shows. I wouldn't mind seeing both Scarborough and Matthews gone. Bring back Abrams and give Shuster a shot. I don't think Scarborough and Matthews lend much to MSNBC.

I kind of like the bickering between the anchors, it means that they actually have contact with the issues, see and have different points of view and challenge each other when the facts are in the lacking. Yet, when it comes down to it, it's all about egos. It's disheartening because I enjoy Keith's work, Chris' surprise attacks, Rachel's ripping responses, and the appearance of a non- apparent monolithic cable news organization that MSNBC has going for them. At least it's intelligent banter between adults but it is starting to rival Jon Stewart's TDS and Colbert Report in entertainment value. It's hard to take them seriously. The vicious head-biting gauntlet they have going on at every MSNBC "family re-union", it diminishes the value of the discourse and loses the point of unity- which we need right now. Grow up guys; Fox News, Rupert Murdoch (Aarggh), and the Repubs (actually the neocon-vict-s) are watching. Give them no excuse, reason, or air to ridicule us "lefties", ya hear!

As far as Joe is concern, I think he is having personal problems and they are starting to show. I can recognize it...

I agree-the Lib side is always right. We shouldn't have to listen to the other side because they are always wrong. Get rid of Morning Joe!!

You must be very simple minded if you equate popularity with quality. Why have the Academy awards then? Just give the best movie and actor awards to whichever movie grossed the highest in theaters (albeit this year it would be justifiable for Dark Knight).

Those pollsters are all liars. Barack is ahead of McCain by double digits. Barack could be president of the world.

I've emailed a couple of the network and cable poll "experts" to question if the polls are not being skewed by the fact that many of the younger and newer do not have land line phones. Cellular phones are not typically "listed" and so cannot be accessed in the normal polling methods, to my knowledge.
Thus far I have not received an answer direct from anyone (??).
But while listening to Democratic Convention coverage this week (not sure which network/cable channel) I was pleased to hear someone ask the same question.
My excitement was quickly squelched when a polling representative responded that his firm had "ways of compensating for that factor". It was shocking to hear the admission that the poll numbers are manipulated by the polling firms. I guess I suspected that, but it sure struck me as frightening that we could rely so gratly on such flimsy science.

I am a huge Olbermann fan, but he was being a total dick to Joe Scarborough, who was making what seemed to me to be fairly accurate, reasonable points. The past two weeks have not been good for the Obama campaign, which is just what he was saying. I used to think he was a total GOP hack or a O'Reilly wannabe, but he has shown a pretty strong independent, pragmatic streak over the past few years. There was no reason for KO and Matthews to be so dismissive of him.

Kind of like how joe responded when Rachael was on a show with him, you know , when he took off his mike and stormed out? Or when he was so rude to her when she was on a panel with him another time.? Now joe is stuck on a morning show, when Rachel gets prime time.

Joey is a bully and if you dare disagree with him he will berate or mock you until you shut up. His manner is disgraceful and I think that he just gets a "bee in his bonnet" and won't shut up until he's made whatever point he's trying to make.

I tried watching Morning Joe for awhile and love it when he's NOT on, but when he's hosting I usually end up either throwing a shoe at the TV or turning it off; and I think turning it off is better for my wardrobe...
