***WATCH ROUND 2: SCARBOROUGH V. SHUSTER***

Monday night during MSNBC's convention coverage, Joe Scarborough was describing the surge John McCain has been experiencing in the polls over the last few weeks — but Keith Olbermann didn't want to hear it. Scarborough caught him mocking the suggestion, at which point the "Morning Joe" host rattled off a bunch of poll numbers defending his point and making the case that the McCain camp "has dug out of a grave" and "if this convention had been held two weeks ago, it would've been more of a coronation than a convention."

Olbermann and Chris Matthews scoffed at the suggestion that the race is close, with Matthews asking, "Are we done?"

The problem with Joe (compared to Don Imus) is the very trait that he was failing miserably to admit. Namely, that his partisanship is what makes him so unwatchable.

When Imus criticized media people and politicians it was often based on his perception (right or wrong) that they were phony, hypocritical or illogical.

He was not beyond taking on Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, Kennedy, Biden and Hillary on the same show. He also went after business people which the MSM seldom does.

His intellect allowed him the luxury of offering a broad range of opinions. I remember him commenting in some detail that the CBS' "NFL Today" panel was weak, the CEO of GM was dreadful and Andrea Mitchell should confine herself to reporting as she was not good at hosting a talk show.

His popularity can be traced, in part, to his ability to discuss a wide range of topics and his propensity to make utterances that made you say, "I can't believe he said that

Too bad his admirable quality to speak his mind got him fired.

It is Scarborough's tendency to see so much through partisan eyes that may lead to his downfall. The sooner the better in my eyes.

Whether you believe the polls are not, they are news, and for MSNBC to try to bury them, because they don't favor their candidate doesn't seem like something a "news" organization should do. Wouldn't it be nice if we had actual facts in the news, and didn't know which way the talking heads voted. FOX is unwatchable, but MSNBC is getting that way too.

When FOX NEWs is critisized for bias it isnt nessesarly that they're bias it's that they are bold faced liars that wont even mention any McCain shortcomings.

People are pissed that MSNBC pundits actually have this thing called critical thinking skills and are not afraid to call peopel out when they spew BS talking points while Tom Broka is so in love with McCain that he goes out of his way to be critical of Obama when the situation doesnt even call for it.

THe more pissed people get with MSNBC the more you can be sure that they are speaking truth and doing something right.

I love Joe. Morning Joe is the only show I watch on MSNBC now that they took Abrams off. Olbermann and Matthews have ruined it for me.

not me i enjoyed the slap back Keith gave Joe it was about time. i saw the exchange and it was Keith who "rattled off" poll numbers to show that Joe was as usual making it up out of whole cloth
Joe is a bully and a republican shill which would be as it is... But he tries to insist even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary that hes neutral ... and Mika, dear Mika the wimp, she is afraid of him it seems ... and will never confront him for more than a second ...then she caves in the face of his nastiness and looks like a dog who has been beaten ....WELL DONE KEITH for so many reasons.

I agree, no one was more suprised than me, when I tuned in once and kept coming back. Now when I get up in the morning I turn it on and watch until I leave for word. Do you know that actually have both sides of an issue on the show. Imagine that, someone on MSNBC with an opinion different than Olbermann's.

Let's face it Keith blew it plain and simple. But considering his intellectual prowess, I am not sure I know why.
God forbid ..can he be in a bubble like Bush? Geez.....Keith got turned upside down now too so now we have to excuse Bush's bad behavior away too? Geez! Maybe Keith can put on a little Sherlock make-up and head for the cab barn or ???? It appears he is being overwhelmed by his own bias. Keith, that is not healthy Keith. Wake-up. Spend some time in ....Mason City, IA maybe. Get your feet back on the ground.

KeithO is a perfect example of what is wrong with the far left of the democrat party. When are you liberals and leftist democrats going to call a spade a spade.? It's people like KeithO who have caused the huge split between Clinton and Obama.

What you just saw there is an example of how this election could be lost. KeithOs and like minded morons are driving Hillary supporters to McCain.

No one is driving Hillary supporters to McCain! If you are a Democrat, and the failed policies and malfeasance of the last eight years have not solidified in your mind that a Democrat is needed. Yet you will vote for at least 4 more years of the same.
If this is the case you are no better than a child having a tantrum because they did not get what they wanted!

Mcain is not Bush. He is independent, Obama is an empty suit. i would be afraid to have him in charge of national security. He wants to be president just to be president. Bill Clinton wanted to be president to help the people. Bill Clinton worked for years on the problems of America. Obama, with one year in the US Senate decided he was knowledgeable and experienced enough to be president. What a joke.

I'd have an easier time with you point if you weren't so busy pigeon-holing folks as leftists and liberals. I doubt that Obermann is what's wrong with the country. There seem to be a few other problems. I would say that all the vitriol I've been listening to on radio and TV for the past 40 years has done a little more harm than KO. And most of the hatred that has been spewed around has come for those on the right of the political spectrum. Because they are always right, always patriots, always moral and the left just never is.

Olbermann can get to be a little much, but at least someone has started firing back in the past few years, and a lot of people (like you, I would guess) don't like that.

If a Hill supporter is inclined to vote for john mc same then they were never interested in the issues just the candidate. Obama and Clinton agree on 99% of issue as with Clinton and McCain they are polar opposites. So that person will vote for Mccain to there own determent because what?????????? Seems to me the only logical reason would be because he was a Blackman. But No your not racists , Or very smart either . Then again I think every body has bias.

did Hillary vote for FISA, did she vote for the Cheney Energy bill, did she praise the recent decision to limit a woman's right to choose when her mental health is in question, did she praise the recent overturning of gun restrictions in DC, let's see does she want to drill off our coasts. Did she sign a pledge card about public financing and than go back on her word. Was HIllary adamant about not counting the votes in FL & MI and than completely flip on what she said after the primaries. Don't tell me they are 99% alike, Hillary didn't vote present eight times on issues pertaining to a woman's right to choose, Obama did all these things. I'm a democrat, I don't support any of these decisions Obama has made. You keep whining about race, I'll keep watching how he votes. It shows such a lack of intelligences and a lack of personal responsibility to blame everything on race, but that's not my problem, I'll be looking at the issues, not the color of someone's skin.

I know it's been said before, but I'll say it anyway. MSNBC wants to and is, becoming Fox News left. Fox blows them out in ratings and they need ammunition. Like ot or not, the liberals need a mouthpeice for their issues. At least Fox isn't so obvious about it.

Fox isn't so obvious? What have you been watching for the last six years? Rove is an "analyst" for Fox--enuf said.. Fox "News" is run by a former GOB operative--it doesn't get any more obvious than that. Fox is a mouthpiece for the Republican party. Murdoch plainly wants Fox to be a politically conservative network--the "fair and balanced" slogan is the most blatant lie in the history of marketing--and IMO CNN and select others at other networks (led by Olberman) have set themselves in opposition to Fox. I'm glad for it.
