Jon Klein Is Twittering! (Also, CNN Ratings)
....and I get to take credit for it! I cajoled him into signing up over breakfast at the CNN Grille — well, breakfasts, both of them mine (at the CNN Grille they don't make you choose between delicious entrees! And they have real maple syrup!). But back to CNN president Jon Klein: Here's his twitter address, and here are his first two tweets:
am getting recruited to twitter by rachel sklar.
and
worrying about not having twittered in the past 9 seconds.
He worried a bit that he might twitter something that could get him fired; I said that if he got fired it would probably be about something bigger. He didn't look worried, though, perhaps because he had just gotten in some numbers on his blackberry: CNN's 3pm coverage of the first Obama-Biden appearance on Saturday drew 743,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, and was the highest-rated hour on cable. It was 61% ahead of MSNBC (perhaps because the viewers that tuned in for Veepstakes news on Friday night got "To Catch An Identity Thief," so figured the 3 p.m. hour would be doc blocks like usual) and 137% ahead of Fox (perhaps because, um, well, hmm. You got me). Klein also said that CNN was the top network last night in households "by a mile." I asked if I could quote him (I guessed that I could, since he was just dropping the info in casual conversation with me and TVNewser's Steve Krakauer) and he said of course! "It was by a mile - by a mile high!" Ha! That joke honestly never gets old, which I will prove by using it continuously for the next four days.
Anyhow, the moral of the story is: When I say "jump," network presidents say "how high?" Phil Griffin, you're up next.
