Kucinich's Democratic Convention Speech (VIDEO)

Dennis Kucinich took to the podium today at the Democratic Convention and fired up the crowd with a rousing speech. Kucinich's enthusiasm reached a crescendo as he repeatedly exhorted the crowd with cries of "Up with America!" In case his words were not evidence enough of his fire, his body language put all remaining doubts to rest.

Secretary of Peace?!?
Do you people have any idea how peace happens? Peace is the result of victory. Peace is what happens when you eliminate your enemies. Ideally we could convince our enemies to come around to our way of thinking. But some are unwilling to listen to reason and it is for those that we maintain a military.
So if you peaceniks think that Osama bin Laden and his ilk will leave us alone if we just try to understand him, think again.
I thank God daily that we have a military and the men and women who are willing to deal with the evil that some seem to believe does not exist.

Peace is the result of people deciding to pusue cooperation rather than conflict.

No one is saying disband the military.

But how much better would we be if peace was tried first instead of last?

We need a Department of Peace that seeks unity and cooperation everywhere it is usable.

Clearly, the Bush/Cheney/neocon warmongering has been a total disaster, militarily, economically and morally. Thank goodness the dark days of neoconservatism are coming to a close.

We are spending fortunes on missle sistems and a military-industrial complex for an enemy that does not exist. Imagine if we retooled our military to deal with the enemies that do exist in modern times and used the rest of that money to rebuild our country.

Sigh...I so love Kucinich. I love Obama, but Kucinich was my actual candidate of preference. Sadly, people of this intelligence, this honesty, and this forsight are never allowed to get to where they should be in politics. Oh well, at least in his position he doesn't have to really play the games, triangulate, and pander and can instead just lay it out there.

Why didn't they put Dennis there instead of Warner as Key Note. Warner is an example of why Democrats lose. This is the type of speech needed at conventions.

Why couldn't Kucinich give the keynote?

Oh, that's right. They wanted someone milktoast and uninspiring. Mission accomplished.

See, if Kucinich delivered the keynote he might actually speak truth to power. He might actually say something which offends conservatives and we can't have that with this "new politics" caca. He might actually say something which upsets the corporations who are bankrolling the convention and the party.

We really need at least one major party that doesn't accept corporate money.

Kucinich was inspiring and fiery and said something to motivate people. He fed them red meat. No wonder they buried his speech.
