If not for an epic struggle between alien robots, the streets of Los Angeles might be devoid of major studio drama.

Filming of big-budget movies has ground to a virtual halt across the city and much of the county, a slowdown partly driven by scheduling decisions studios made a year ago to prepare for a possible actors strike.

And the Hollywood bean-counters once again try and prove that money manipulation is more important than creativity. Stick with pumping sludge out of the ground boys. Leave the creative efforts to people who know what they are doing.

Funny there's an article on the Detroit Free Press that says they're filming all over here. Must just be LA

Independents. The article says it's "Major Studios" not working in LA.

Every out of work actor who ever wanted to be a producer or director is trying his/her hand at a low budget "indie", hoping to be the next big thing at Sundance ...

A lot of good stuff coming out of Canada these days. First the actors moved down here, now the production outfits are moving up there. Does this mean that the next Ronald Reagan will have to immigrate from Canada?

... that is if you don't mind six months of rain every year. I don't know what's worse, being unemployed or constant rain. But if you like Seattle weather, you'll LOVE Vancouver.
